I like where you were going with the titans but I think that you need to up the contrast a bit between the red and black. You seem to take most of your shots either outside or under fairly bright lights that accent the contrast but I think under normal lighting the colors will appear too similar and dark overall losing some of the detail in the superstructure and armor plates.

From someone who has seen most of Onyx's armies in the flesh I have to say that his painting style achieves an effect which actually shows really good detail on the darker areas even under worse lighting.

Darker schemes like this give a much more menacing overall effect on the tabletop than more traditional miniature painting styles.  I just wish I could emulate these effects more effectively myself.

Cool Titans! But I would drill holes in the barrels.

Ahoy Onyx, was it you or Cal who assembled the predators? I'm trying to figure out if I should use the same size hole/peg as those, or a new sort of connector.

In other words, were they easy to assemble, or was cursing involved?

O'man

No cursing involved mate, I simply took the collection of models I had and put together what worked to achieve the lareg number by combining loyalist and chaos models. What did cause a little cursing was the Vindicators, most of them aren't suitable for the addition of Chaos Rhino sides, however a dremel with a diamond cutting wheel soon solved those issues.

Cheers
Aaron

Well, Christmas has come and gone and our house guests have come and gone. Back to painting!

I finished off 5 Banelords.

A close up on my favourite.

The rest.

Most likely a white balance issue. I've had similar problems when photographing stuff on my cityfight boards. Essentially: Unless you compensate, your miniatures tend to get overexposed when photographing on a dark background.

Nice  job on those titans Onyx :cool:

Ok, I've finished the 4th box of Iron Warriors.

They'll be in the post in the next day or so back to their (very patient) owner.

Wonder what will be next?

Just send CAL your own Iron Warriors and he'll send them on to Onyx for  him to paint. We've had CAL send our stuff to Onyx for the past six months and he hasn't twigged yet that CAL only had a 3000 point force.

I hope it's not my own batch that gets it when Onyx finally catches on.  :tongue:

LMAO...!!  :D

Brilliant...
I'm genuinely laughing out loud at that. Love your work Warhead  :agree: .

Bunny, I'd love to help out but I have 5 complete Epic armies and 2 boxes of Battle of Five Armies minis waiting for paint (not to mention several boxes of various terrain things to make). I'll try and knock some of that out before I get the 5th box of Iron Warrior bits from CAL.

Cheers,
Steve.

Looking fantastic as always Onyx, it is true I never massed such an army I am merely the filter for all IW armies in system. I hope all the client armies have been happy with their new additions so far.

Ok on to the good stuff, what to send next, hmmmmmmmm, well lets see. I am thinking along the lines of the following:

Tray 1: Small Chaos Fleet, Battleship, 3 x Cruisers and 3 Escorts;
Tray 2: 3 Warlords and 3 Reavers;
Tray 3: Warsmith Retinue in Land Raiders, 8 x Predators and 2 Decimators;
Tray 4: 8 x Predators and 7 x Decimators;
Tray 5: 6 x Deathwheels and 8 x Land Raiders;
Tray 6: Retinue in Rhinos, Bezerker Retinue in Rhinos;
Tray 7: 2 x Bezerker Retinues in Rhinos, 8 x Predators;
Tray 8: Retinue + Havocs, 8 x Basilisks and 6 x Vindicators; and
Tray 9: 2 x Retinues + Havocs and 6 x Defilers.

This will complete the Command Group of the Great Company and a Specialist Battalion. Plenty of new items in there to liven things up. I will talk to you via PM on the Bezerkers and the like.

We are almost done, so all of you who are patiently waiting for his awesome services, sorry.

Cheers
Aaron
