I could delete any posts which I decide are not conducive to the thread and Tac Comms, but will not do so  as I think that would be heavy-handed and not warranted - so far.

Lets get back to the Campaign, and please restrict posts to a friendly discussion of the campaign and the site.

Would it be possible to have the planet/system names in larger more readable type? They are a bit hard to see for me.

Hoping to have first game this Sunday.

That's a major problem Markconz.
The original map is three A2, 42x60cm. Scanning it make the planets quite small.
But your question opens up for thought. Might be a "blow up on hover" thingy. They are worth being seen, the planets.
I'll put my bloodhound onto it ASAP.

Good luck on Sunday.
(I'll have the second this evening.)

Have you considered reconstructing the map in Photoshop or Gimp?  Then it can be any size you'd like.  Then you could do a cool blow up on hover or click the affected planet.  Something you could try would be to map regions of the image to be hyperlinks to battle reports for the effected planets.

Edit: I'd participate, but playing solo games when prizes are offered doesn't seem right and finding opponents is...challenging...for me at the moment.

That's the thing we're looking at now Sgt. One step at a time and it will be a smashing website too! 8v)

Solo playing is something I'm looking into as Fredrik looks into scripts.
Together we might be able to come up with a web-supported way to actually have solo games incorporated at the same level as usual gaming.

Three fights from the start and we are rolling somewhat. :agree:
We need to add a counter for the week's battles, without showing what actually happened (as that can influence reporting vs planet winning vs prize winning).

Commanders, there's a weekend coming up.
Make sure to give the campaign a thought as you set up for gaming.
Have thought on if to participate.
And... Good Luck!  :;):

Battles of week 50 (in reverse order):
Chaos warpmaster's Black Legion defeat Human Markconz's Imperial Guard on Bantor IV in Epic Armageddon
Machine Ruarigh's Syntha defeat Human shorts2's Junkers on Castux in Urban War
Human Karegak's Imperial Guard defeat Chaos Erik_M's Imperial Guard on Bantor IV in Epic Armageddon

Human take a bite out of Chaos, but is later repelled. Machine take the opportunity to take bite out of Human.
Good work all around! :D

Another weekend coming up and battles are sure to be joined, right?
On my side there's been an abundance of things NOT done. And will probably not be done till after the various holidays coming up.

But that doesn't stop the campaign from trudging on!

And let me now answer the three basic questions...

WHAT is Alfakta?

It's a planetary campaign spanning both all the world and all (miniature) sci-fi games.
Everyone can be in and there's even quite a few prizes from our sponsors!

HOW do you partake?

You start with LOGIN and there you Register.
After that it's REPORT to enter battle results.
Who played, with what and how.
Later there will be a forum or guest book to publish more complete battle reports.

WHY play Alfakta?

Alfakta is a place to get your battles a meaning. It's not just a random encounter out in space. It's a battle for part of who's going to own that planet.
Together we form a playing community! Join up, join the fun!

Pre-update w51.

Four battles are so far reported. All including the Human faction.

And a little story of what might happen when you don't read everything through...

There's a problem with chaos. It's sort of only GW that has this kind of force in all various systems and models. Devour can be found almost everywhere, in a more or less mindless fashion. But not chaos.
Chaos has a deliberate devastation in mind. Almost as if planning how to be as nasty as possible.

Is there none else?
Perhaps, a light at the horizon? Centaurs of Command Horizon seem fairly devastating. They harvest a planet.
"Hey Peter, is it ok for you to cater for chaos, with your Centaurs?"
"No no no... No. (Ever seen "The Vicar of Dibley"?) They are very environmentally acute. Almost as Greenpeace of Space are they."
"Uh-uh..."
But sure as amen, Tom is right. The centaurs for sure harvest a planet. But more like a farmer than a Japanese tiger-prawn trawler. They return an re-harvest in periods, long such ones.
Dang! A good idea gone down the drain.  :vD

Anyhow, join up! There's still planets to capture and prizes to win!

1) Chaos Erik_M's Imperial Guard defeat Human Karegak's Imperial Guard on Oakmire in Epic Armageddon
2) Machine Ruarigh's Syntha defeat Human shorts2's Triad on Castux in Urban War
3) Human noggin's Imperial Guard defeat Devour Markconz's Tyranid on Stidsvik in Epic Armageddon
4) Human Ruarigh's Imperial defeat Chaos shorts2's Red Redemptionist Rebel on Oakmire in Laserburn

So Machine has taken a second bite out of Human's Castux. Chaos and Human has been fighting a status que on Oakmire and Human's has attacked Devour.

If Machine wins the next battle over Castux, then the first planet is won.
