...I will be defending my ph. D.-thesis (maybe you call it dissertation?) this spring, the subject is History of Ideas, early 18th century swedish ideas about fate (that probably sounds really wierd). Consequently I am a bit stressed out at the moment, and thats why Ive gone back to painting epic minis again. It really helps me relax and get my mind off the whole thing...

Hey BC Parzval, good luck for your defence - I went through that last April. It's not as bad as you'd expect once you start.

Eoin. Another PhD student, I'm studying stem cell genetics (oooh). 27, wife, two kids, originally from Cambridge, England, but have moved to the States. As well as Epic, I have a pink 40K army. Not much else to say really.

Jon, 24, UK - originally Somerset but now London.
I'm a professional modelmaker and wargames might just have a little to do with my career choice.
I'm unmarried but live with my girlfriend, we don't own a house, the car (1994 toyota corolla) was bought for me by my parents (number 3) and they still pay the insurance (I love mummy).
I don't have a phd - my brother is a doctor of Mathematics - but I do have a degree in Modelmaking (Yup, they give out degrees for this stuff).
My interests include Sci-Fi/fantasy in all genres, modelmaking, physics and books!
I try to make as many epic tournies as possible, though lately I've been lax.
Seeya round.

I'm Ben,

I'm 27, I have dark hair, and I'm exactly 6 feet tall.

I've been seeing the same girl on-and-off for several years, I read anything that comes to hand, I play guitar and sing (Both badly) and I live in London (UK).

I drive a 1993 Nissan Micra (Car of the year 1993!) that my Dad bought me, on the condition that I pay the road tax, insurance, MOT, etc.

I like wargames in general, and Epic in particular.

OK, a real answer. Pictured below is Yen and I.

Born in Oklahoma City 1968, Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from University of Texas at Austin, programming since 1991. Married to first wife from 1990 to January of this year.

One smarty pants girl, 4.5 years old.

First discovered wargaming in 1980 with Avalon Hill's Starship Troopers, thence to D&D, SFB, and so forth. Introduced to mininatures by my nephews in 2000.

I'm Mark. I'm an Aussie. I live in the northern suburbs of Sydney. I'm a Leo. ... Hi.  :)

I'm a 35 year old writer. At uni, I specialised in film and TV scriptwriting, but that doesn't offer consistent enough work over here, so I spend my days in IT writing about various forms of technology, everything from emerging telecommunications technologies down to basic UI workflows. Help systems. I write a lot of Help systems. ... I hate Help systems.

Anyway...  ;)

I dig dystopean sci-fi--ALIENS and BLADE RUNNER spoiled me at a young age--which is probably why the WH40K universe appeals to me so much.

I started playing wargames with my dad when I was something like 10 (Panzer Blitz), but discovered miniatures when WH40K Rogue Trader was released and got right into that for a few years. I bought a bunch of Epic miniatures when Space Marine was released, too, but never got to play even a single game.

When I hit uni, there was suddenly no time for gaming between bar-crawl sessions, and so I left the hobby for many years.

Last year, however, I rediscovered 40K when I discovered a workmate still played it, then in its 4th iteration. This reignited my love for the 40K fluff, and then this year CAL001 introduced me to Epic:Armageddon. It was lurve at first sight. (I still dig 40K, but currently E:A has really gripped my imagination and I am loving it.)

My Ultramarines and I enjoyed our first real Epic victory the other day, too (after too many abject defeats). That was pretty COOL.  :)

I am married with two daughters, two dogs, three rabbits, and a mortage. I love them all (except the mortgage...the mortgage and I tolerate each other, but that's about it).  :)

We have a small group of Epic gamers here that we are trying to expand, but it's a bit tough to find E:A players over here. If any Aussie players based in Sydney want to contact me, feel free.

Well check my profile ... that says most of it ... I got 2 Business degrees while in ROTC. And I'm sure you have all heard my "war stories" while I was in the US Army for 10 1/2 years. Otherwise ... the rest is Classified ... :blues:

Scott, 30, live in Boise, Idaho, USA.

Was in the Navy for a while (and can't really talk about it), got out, and discovered that I need a bachelor's degree to get a job that I have 5 (calendar) years experience (closer to 9 if you go by hours worked in field).  So now I'm working on the Bachelor's of Business Administration in International Business with a Human Resources Management minor.

There aren't a lot of Epic players in Boise (I think CC is the closest Epicommer, and he's two day away by car), so I'm stuck playing other games, like D&D4, Flames of War, and Infinity.  I've just about given up on the 40k rules (although I have every ruleset from Rogue Trader to 4e), as the 5e changes have left me cold.

One of these days I'll get a camera (or borrow my dad's big Nikon) and get some pictures of my projects.

Chris... I'm 34 and live in Elkhart, Indiana.

I am in Electronics sales, and am a self-professed nerd.  But I am comfortable with this, as are my wife and 2 wonderful kids(except my son who decided to see if my mega-gargant was articulated).

I remember playing Talisman just after the second edition came out.  It fell by the way-side until DoW brought me into W40K and lead me to Epic and BFG.

I'm Erik and I'm a 43 year old falling drop out. Found my shelter five years ago and is now without the skeltor of my sons other part.

Trying to like EA. Atleast playing it.

My name is Ken, and I am a 31 year-old trial attorney.
I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia with my wife and 4 year-old son.

I have a B.A. in Cognitive Science and Philosophy (after starting in Architecture) from the University of Virginia, and a J.D. from William & Mary.

My interest in 6mm sci-fi gaming began in the early 1990s with a White Dwarf Epic battle report (Squats v. Orks). I played in the very first game of Space Marine at the very first North American GW Games Day (1993). I have been tinkering with my own 6mm sci-fi rules off and on for the past 5+ years, after playing Dirtside II for several years.

Work and family limits my gaming time, but I paint most nights. I currently review science fiction games and miniatures for Tabletop Gaming News, and sporadically update my Blog. In addition to miniatures games, I enjoy film scores, the PSP, boardgames (Ra, Formula De, etc.) and conventional wargames (Silent War and World at War: Eisenbach Gap being two out on my table at the moment), Japanese cooking, politics, and dystopian science fiction.

Cool. Well, many of you know me already. I started playing wargames with Rogue Trader, moved on through Space Hulk to Space Marine/Epic first edition. I also got a BSc in Cognitive Science, and I now have a PhD in Robotics and work as a lecturer. Married, drive a Honda CRV and have found my spare time getting less and less over the last couple of years... I paint at glacial speeds, play far less often than I would like to, and have an interest in pretty much anything science fiction. I should also have a few interesting projects out for public view shortly.....  :oh:

Not so, sir!  I'm in Spokane, a mere 8-hour drive away!  Do you ever come up to the Panhandle at all?

Not as often as I'd like (I have family in Moscow).

Hrm... I may need to make a trip when (if) I'm not swamped with school this summer!

I feel like I've written these far too many times, but not here for a while, so not repeating too much, here goes:

Personal:
I'm Paul, 26, from Leatherhead, UK.
I've wargamed for 20 of those thanks to my Grandad starting me young & had the nickname TuffSkull for about 17 years.
I'm under educated for these boards - no Degree to speak of and barely any A-levels, despite having been very accademic up to 16 until I got bored with being clever. I've had a rather varied career to date, starting where most people end in corporate business and ending up where most people begin, very happy as a full time builder/labourer. I'm single (& love it!) and have recently moved into a 3 bed maisonette (sp?!) on my own so have plenty of space to play games if & when I find time!  :vD I wont detail my car - too embarassing  :vo

I'm a keen climber & Boulderer, and a District Network Scout Leader (18-25s of Scouting - more booze than knots!) both of which I love, but might be leaving scouting soon so at least I'll have more time for models & DRM!

Modeling / Gaming:
Between whiles I spent 4 years as a full time Miniature painter, and have worked for a lot of games companies (including for GW specialist games - Mordheim, E:40K, E:A, Blood Bowl) as well as having sent Miniatures to (Check's bragging list) 24 Countries.  :p Now, I do very little detail work, having gone back to my roots in wargaming of having stupidly large collections rather than super detail pieces. My only current detail work can be found in Dark Realm Miniatures, for whom I do a lot of designing, writing, gaming and painting.

I used to run Epic40k.com, which started when there was really very little in the way of an online epic community. When I could no longer run that, the site was integrated with Netepic.org & the forums came here. I may not be as active here these days as I used to be, but I always keep an eye out as its a great joy to see such an active community for one of my favourite games - Good work CS! :agree:

Other than 6mm Sci Fi, I have miniatures for most concievable scales and periods, and have even played with a fair few of them. I love different rules sets, and whilst I have a good tactical mind, I always play for fun rather than being competative & have never liked the tournament scene (outside of epic ones, which I found more relaxing & have enjoyed greatly in the past!)
