It occurs, that - because i'm terrible with names - i don't actually know who most of you lot are; especially the UK tournament people that i bump into every now and then. And so i thought i'd start this thread asking the basic question "who the hell are you people?!?"

I'll happily go first,
My names Ryan and I am an Alchoholic...
whoops! start again...
Yeah, i'm ryan, i'm 23, i live in Bristol where i work for a Social Data who are a transport data collation company helping to reduce congestion and increase bike use in several UK cities, At the same time i'm studying an MA in Performance Research, hoping to start up my own street theatre company with a political edge to it and sometimes consider myself a bit of a dark horse amongst wargamers; i'm cycling mad, vegan, a bit too hippyish for my own good occasional Buddhist and as involved in the activist and campaigning movement as i can be...i also like to play with 6mm figures!

NEXT!

Could've fooled me Chris, we have a staff member at Univ who's your spitting image. Actually there are twowho could use that photo on their passport...  :vD  :vD

You won't be bumping into me in the UK tourney scene as I live in the mildly insane island of Malta.
I'm Vanvlak - er, wait, that's not my real name.. or is it? Well, you may also call me John. Or V. Or J.
I'm an engineer and a lecturer and a few other things, especially owner of diverse cats. And I'm organising this year's EPICOMP08, which CLOSES AT THE END OF THE MONTH so get your entries IN (oops, sorry, is that spam?  :vD ).

Ryan of Kent: I'm almost a vegan, having stopped at vegetarian. And I have a good friend who's cycling mad. But the similarities end there I guess - 41, tend to wear dark serious clothes, and have been through the postgrad cycle. Street theatre sounds  8v) - I divert my errant creative instincts with ridiculous conversions or a spot of very non-commercial writing.

PS - the face on the right half of the flag which I use as an Avatar really looks a bit like me. Honest.

Me.... I hope I don't need to tell anyone what my name is..... I didn't bother making up something for usernames.

I'm an environmental scientist, commercial diver and somewhat of a techno guru in computer based mapping.

My life seems to swing around between outdoorsy stuff, gaming stuff and work stuff.  With the balance being a little far towards the work and gaming at the moment (I need more exercise).

I was an avid role-player during high-school but it kind of lost all appeal to me at some point during uni then I returned to tabletop gaming after having kids.

Epic is my favorite all time game followed by Blood Bowl then Warhammer Fantasy Battle.

In general I like the hobby/art aspect of gaming and fantasy and scifi imagery as much as I like gaming.  I also play 40K, BFG and AI to fill out the imagery of the 40K universe by playing linked games using all scales (I actually have armies across 3 scales).

Other than that I hang out with my wife and kids and way way way too many pets.  Luckily I live in a sunny little town that is fast growing into a thriving metropolis so I get a big block to fit them all and still have access to all the resources you would get in a city within walking distance.

I tend to be most active on the hobby side of the forum so I might not be posting up so much over the near future as I am painting a large fantasy army for my daughter.  In a nut shell the army is focused around a princess and her loyal retainers who have to defend their kingdom from all sorts of nastiness after the king has fallen sick.  Reaper has provided some very awesome characters for it (The princess, Angels that are going to be based on flying stands riding clouds, and a bunch of dragon mistresses and their beasts, backed up by Brentonian Cavalry).

I'm a PC.  No, wait... I'm Spartacus!  No... okay, trying this again.

My real name is Andreas and I'm a 35-year-old labor relations manager at a small hospital in Washington State.  I am an Army veteran, a Mensa member, and a father of two boys, ages 8 and 11.

We drive a '97 Saturn sedan and a '97 Dodge minivan (the Urban Family Assault Vehicle).

I started gaming in 1980 with my much-older sister and her friends, then dropped out of the hobby when I enlisted in 1991, then got back into it after finishing grad school in 2002.  I realized that I was lacking any sort of creative outlet, so I got back into gaming.  I'm mostly into sci-fi, although I have some fantasy stuff kicking around.  My current interests are Epic, Space Hulk, Dirtside, Iron Cow, Combat Zone, Stargrunt, Starmada, OGRE, and a smattering of other stuff, including board games (currently Tide of Iron and Battle Cry).  I also used to be a heavy RPG player, but I lack the time any more.

My other major hobby is sport shooting, which I enjoy immensely, but it's expensive.

Hi,
I'm Eyal, almost 32, living in Israel and married to a wonderful supportive wife with a 1.5 year old boy.
Computer engineer, driving a 2008 Renault megane company car - well actually my wife is driving it I'm taking the bus :),
and served a long time in the navy.

Used to play role play games for many years, in the dark sun campaign from which I got my nick,
but had to quit as there is just not enough time for all my hobbies.

My main other hobby is military modelling, and I'm active at various forums and sites mainly our Israelli modelling site degem.
Had a brief experience in 40k and fantasy warhammer games, but stopped as there was no way I could ever finish building those very expensive armies.
A friend hooked me on epic, and I'm currently building my armies so I can play this cool game :).

Happy to be part of this great community,
Eyal.

P.S
A model I built:

I'm Robert, I'm a 34 year old CAD Monkey who designs Natural Gas Refineries, in Denver Colorado.  I have no titles except one's I've made up myself.

I live with my girlfriend Maria in a little house with our aptley named cat Eris.  I drive either a 2005 Vespa PX150 or a Toyota Corolla, and I spend time working on a 1958 Vespa VBB (money sink) it runs, but it's always a questions as to how long, or what is going to go wrong on it this time.

I've played games since 5th grade, started with D&D, moved to other RPG Systems, played Magic and other CCG's, then finally settled on mini's.  Took a long break from games, then over the last year the friends and I have begun having "geek night" as named by our girlfriends.  We play everything from Catan, Zombies, Munchkin, Shogun, Axis and Allies, etc.

This site inspired me to start up epic again, so now I have two full armies, working on terrain, have a nice table top set-up and spending more money on "little guys" (as the girl friend calls them) than I really ought to be.

Hi, I'm Jim

I do not define my life by my work or my belongings which is just as well as I am a Porn Star and I lost all my best possessions playing poker.

I am 38 but still act like a teenager. I like a laugh but I sometimes go too far and can end up embarrassing myself. FYI never say to a girl "My friend said he had you!.. and you were shite!" Apparently they don't appreciate the humour and it's never a good way to start the day. EDIT: See, that was too far!
Some people may get the wrong impression of me by reading what I write on these threads as I am actually quite shy and quiet until I feel at ease in a persons company.

I achieved my life's ambition when I got married in '97 to a wonderful woman who I consider my greatest friend. We adopted Allan our son when he was just coming up for two years old and he is our greatest and most cherished addition to the family. We always have a good laugh together but we're not the Braidy Bunch.

I am six foot 2 inches tall and almost 20 stone but I'm still fit and active (due to my job) and like to exercise. I used to play American Football and I know Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido and Kung Fu (Lau Gar). I would like to learn Sambo and/or Capoeira but now I never will. I still enjoy hill walking on occasion.

I have role-played since I was 13 and have bummed about from group to group (playing Rogue Trooper, Judge Dredd, Star Wars, Conan, Star Frontiers, Call of Cathullu, Middle Earth, Harnmaster and Cyberpunk to name but a few. I began running the Cyberpunk 2020 game at the age of 20 after my best friend Neil who was the Cyberpunk GM moved to America. Since then, Cyberpunk has gotten darker and the rulebooks less important but the game must be popular as it is still ongoing. Some of my friends who are involved also play Epic and have done so since '94.

I also like turn based strategy games and can not see beyond Talonsofts battleground series or Western/Eastern front games.
I joined TacCom in June this year and it has been the best change I have made in years and have learned sooo much in such a very short time from some very good people.

I too don't believe that is The_Real_Chris in his Avatar either as he looks just like I guy I knew called Gary who lived near here and he used to play Epic too.

Oh, and I was only joking about the whole Porn Star/Poker thing. I never gamble.

Right...

Im 30, living in Sweden, I am what I think you call a postgrad student: I will be defending my ph. D.-thesis (maybe you call it dissertation?) this spring, the subject is History of Ideas, early 18th century swedish ideas about fate (that probably sounds really wierd). Consequently I am a bit stressed out at the moment, and thats why Ive gone back to painting epic minis again. It really helps me relax and get my mind off the whole thing. As I am swedish I do of course drive a Volvo (-97 850 sedan), although right now its stuck in a big pile of snow, and wont be running much again until summer.

I also love to go fly-fishing, and I tie my own flies when I find the time.

BTW, I look pretty much like The real C, or at least like the guy in his profile pic :-)

Hi, my name is Tim and I'm an epicholic.

I'm 46 years old, live in Avon, Connecticut and will be getting divorced in the coming months. I have a degree in history from the University of Connecticut and I'm a military history junkie. My specialty is WW II, but I'll read just about any era of military history. I work in insurance managing group benefits for employers. Primarily I manage disability claims.

I started playing wargames, specifically Avalon Hill, at 12. I still play them, with my favorite being Advanced Squad Leader. When I was 14 a friend roped me into playing D&D. With much hesitation I agreed and 32 years later I'm still playing. How many of you can claim to have started playing with the original D&D boxed set?  :;): My first character was, now don't be too shocked  :vD , a dwarf fighter. Right now I'm the DM for my gaming group.

My introduction to GW was games like Talisman and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying. My Epic addiction began when the same friend bought me Adeptus Titanicus for my birthday shortly after its release. I also enjoy Space Hulk.
