I'm trying to find ways of displaying models upwards so taking less shelf space and for my Nurgle force, I've adopted a swamp like setting with dead trees.

Now I got some of these tree frames that you make your own trees with and they're overly huge... but the branches can actually support a stands (with a bit of modelling).

So I've added green stuff to add nurgle style mold to the branches for stability. So I have a large dead tree with 7 big branches, each can support a stand and working on one more stand to sit on the top. So that's 8 stands.

But what do people think...? Does Plague Bearers up on trees seem silly?

Just need a bit more modelling before I'll take pictures. Also I don't have the Plague Bearers painted, but this is what I'm planning to use on the tree.

Hmm... wondering how to paint the bases now :(

oops. this was supposed to be in the scenary section :(

erm...whilst it may well work i;ll admit it dies seem a tad odd! I'd like to see it but first hting that came to mind is howsabout a slanting cliff face made out of styrofoam at the back? Could have lots of nurgled themed sculpts and goo etc....maybe even a tree or two!

the tree could be a place with deamonic focus or an immobile chaos alter - slowly birthing more plauge bearers like so many rotten apples.

I'm also having a bit of trouble visualizing it. How big do you imagine the tree would be? A huge titan sized daemon tree with thick gnarled branches would probably provide excellent cover. That way it makes sense to me, but again it really depends a lot on how it was done. Since Plaguebearers are close combat units it seems slightly counterintuitive for them to take the high ground for cover, since they will be unable to attack. On the other hand they could just be lying in ambush waiting to drop down as the enemy passes below.
I'm not exactly sure how it would save display space to have them mounted in such a contraption though. Either way I'm sure you will come up with something good looking in the end; it just sound a little strange right now    :;):

Ooh, this one gets my vote. Very yuck!
I take it this is some sort of Diorama your doing Lextar and not some bizarre and wonderful storage solution...

Hmm... I like that idea. Think I'll try and do something like that on a different tree though.

I have a cabinet that I built with sliding transparent plastic doors for placing models and any other stuff I want displayed without gathering dust. As it is quite a deep shelf, you need to get light to the back of the shelf, so adding more and lowering the height available would mean less light getting to the back. So I have the height available, but wasted when displaying epic.

So the tree is not quite a storage method, nor quite a diorama, but as mentioned, its to save space, but hopefully look good as scenary too.

swap the shelves out for glass / add a mirror to the back of each shelf

or mount little white LED's in the top back corners of each shelf.

or make a nurgle tree  :))
