Has anyone used Chroma's Daemon World Army List yet ?

I'm a bit confussed on what the basic Army is - Can the Daemons start on the battlefield or do they need to be Summoned as in the Black Legion rules.

Or is the Daemonic Pact upgrade an option for the Mutant Horde so that they can Summon Daemons also.

Also I would drop most of the Upgrades (i.e. lord Of Battles) as I think this should be limited to the LotD and I would allow the optional Daemons in the Black Legion list to be allowed as Standard in this list (i.e. A Formation of Plaguebearers & Nurglings).

Obvisouly this would give the Army a more Horde feel of units just swarming across the battlefield with limited Heavy Weapon support from the Greater Daemons.

I've used it on occasion... *laugh*

Yes, the core Daemon formation start on the table, just like normal formations, and, yes, the Daemonic Pact is there so *more* Daemons can be summomed.

I included the various support formations to make the army more "Epic"; without them, there's not a lot of variety to the army, just straight swarms.

There hasn't been much work done on it recently as focus has shifted to straightening out the "core" lists, but I'll get back to developing it eventually and, yes, most of the "appendix" Daemons will be included in it.

Have you tried it at all?

Not yet, but was thinking of trying next time my group gets together to play EPIC.

I have a few suggestions for the development of it.

i     Deamon units size is fixed to the 'MAGIC' for the faction.
ii    Primarks

I've been looking at the list (one of the reason's I wanted the LaTD download - for stat's and rules)

Here's what I came up with - not a list you had in mind I think Chroma, but taking the swarm theme and running with it:

2000pts

A Demonic horde + 2Hounds + 2Mutants
B Demonic horde + 2Spawn
C Mutant horde + 5Big Mutant Upgrades + 3Furies led by  Aspiring Champ
D Mutant horde + 5Big Mutant Upgrades led by Great Amboninable Aspiring Champion
----
E Demonic Calvary
F Cultist Mob
G Hell Cannons
----
H Warp Rift

All demons are undivided = beasts

No Summoning Pool and only 4 heavy vehicles!
To be honest I think it's a little toothless and slow, but I've ignored the ability of the list to bring power to where you need it most (except the warp rift).
7 activations though, so may well be able to make up for slow speed.

Thoughts?

Thoughts?

Could be cool!

I probably wouldn't put the Mutants/Chaos Spawn in the Daemonic Hordes if they're all Beasts... you want them to be able to run/engage and not be bogged down by slower units.

You're going to have a hard time putting Blast markers onto things to prep them for assaults... but taking the list up to the "standard" 3000 points will fix that gap!

Looking forwatd to a battle report in the near future!  :)

I keep meaning to knock up a new army list based on the new 40k daemon codex.

What do you feel my list is missing in regard to the Daemon Codex?

I read it when it first came out, but just straight Daemons (and Defiler variants) aren't enough variety for an EPIC army.

I think it'd be interesting to have a list with most of the unit types from 40k in such a list, along with the daemon engines. Basically nothing but daemons, no cultists, mutants etc, just a pure daemon force.

I do agree it'd be a bit silly though.. "Gosh, it's yet another unit of close combat infantry!".

Uhm...the same way WH40k does it? Place one half of the formations on the table and the rest ready to summon?

I think Hena means *in play*, as summoned Daemons can disappear back to the Summoning Pool.

Different coloured bases, markers, types.  Lots of ways to do it.

Oly the summoned daemons disappear? I would change that. Give them all Daemonic Focus. The Warp should be strong enough during a Daemonic Incursion to strengthen the daemons in the material realm.

Focus or not, summoned Daemons disappear when the formation breaks. It isn´t that easy...

Heh, you could make ALL daemons disapear when the formation breaks and make them a hell of a lot cheaper? Massive hordes of daemons!
