My whole reason for joining ROTC at my local hometown university was to become an Army Officer, because I was no where good enough for West Point. ?About 70% of the officer in the U.S. Army are ROTC - so when C/S demoted me to "Cannon Fodder", I knew what it is like to be there ! ? But I managed to get 2 Business Degrees in 4 years. I didn't use them much in the Infantry, but had to have a degree to be selected for officer training. ?However, I now manage a small business back in my hometown. ?That was not my plan, but you never know what the future holds ...

Well as I said I'm not going to be able to check in too often and I've only been at the college bar a couple of days and the topics 2 pages! Well I'm lucky really. I got into a good Uni and am doing what I like. Student Life is sweeeeeeeet! And, I reckon at the end of it with a degree in Physics from Cambridge I should be fairly employable.

Hi!
"primarchload", what a catchy phrase!
Like Mojarn said, you do the job you least "hate" and that it gives you enough to buy what you "like" to do.

What do you program in Mojarn? | Basically applications in C++, but since I am doing [Deleted for NDA reasons] in Symbian OS Enviroment it is a bit relative term; symbian has added a lot of quirks, especially to exception and string handling, while eliminating certain others.
Two-phased constructor is an interesting feature.

Yep stormseer, I am another History student, I'm currently doing it at A Level, and doing "The unification of Italy" and "Hitlers rise to power" Rather interesting subjects!
Dooglebug, are you at cambridge now? I had ideas about going there to study Physics as well, but the Uni in Sheffield is just as good, but I don't think my parents want me staying here even longer!!
Cheers
Chris

Hitlers rise to power is interesting stuff- lots of different party abreviations to remember tho- SDP, KPD, etc.. gets a little confusing at times! ..I'm also doing the Russian Revolution, Tsar Nicholas II, Bloody Sunday etc, which is very interesting indeed as it is an area I havn't studied much at all before...

My current study of history revolves around the History Channel, if you can get it, do so. And continue to read voraciously ...

Yep Hitlers rise to power is confusing, but we ain't doing about Russia, I think the system must be the teachers mix and match what topics they wanna teach! I think I end up doing 3 topics on germany over 2 years!
Also, the unification of Italy is rather hard...did you know Italy used to be made up of 12 different countries!
Also, Tom and stormseer, what other courses are you/did you do at college? I'm doing Maths, Physics, ICT and History. Not the eaisest mix!
Cheers

University of Cambridge
the difference between the two is a lot more than you think
a degree from Cambridge can get you ?10K per year more than the same degree from Sheffield
though of course Sheffield is a lot cheaper place to live than Cambridge and there will be a lot less hooray henrys as well!
