Hi pop pickers!

I'm going away for a couple of months, so I thought I'd post the current state of my Dark Eldar before I do.

Apologies for the shoddy photos, I did them very quickly with a flash.

First up is a Kabal Syndicate with 3 Raiders, a Ravager and a Dracon. They are made from a mixture of all 3 editions of Eldar Guardians, with plasticard used for the various blades. The vehicles are scratchbuilt from plasticard.

Up next is my Kabal Koterie, 4 bases of Incubi with an Archon. They are made from various eldar types with added halberds and back spikes from plasticard. The Archon is made from an old plastic Eldar targetter, with the claw from an Ork Nob and a pistol added.

Here's a closeup of the Archon. Eventually his formation will travel around in his own personal Barge of Pleasure.

Here's my very Charad inspired Vessel of Pain. Sorry about the photo angles, the above shot I took came out too blurry to use.

My Flight of Scourges, made from Swooping Hawks with plasticard wings. Still need to finish basing these...

And finally, my work in progress Reavers.

Cheers, the VoP looks better from other angles, but the picture came out mega-blurry.

Cheers. I'm planning on making a Tormentor, but I've got no plans to make an Executor currently. The concept doesn't really grab me.

Nice models!  Glad to see the Dark Eldar taking a foothold.

I've got no plans to make an Executor currently. The concept doesn't really grab me.

The model concept or the unit concept?  If its the model, just try to make something different - you won't offend me or Charad.  I rather like the idea of different types of Executors floating around out there.

It's the unit concept. I don't really see why Dark Eldar would use a support craft. To me, it doesn't seem to fit with their lightning-strike style of warfare.

I can accept titans and super-heavy tanks, as long as they are fast, but a big floating super-plane just seems wrong to me.

It's a transport first and foremost, combined with a portal.  Both aspects mean that the Dark Eldar can bring a raid to a planet in large quantities when a Webway portal doesn't exist.  They do it in space (Impalers) so it makes no sense that they wouldn't do it on a planet.  IMO they make more sense than Titans!

Read over the fiction in Raiders and you'll get a really good idea as to how and why they would be used.  If that doesn't convince you then by all means ignore it.  I knew full well that the list wouldn't make everyone happy - there are parts of the list that still make ME unhappy. :)

I understand the idea, but it doesn't quite gel with me. I think the list can work fine without it, so I won't be using it.

Personally I'd expect the DE to use something more like the Storm Serpent for attacking worlds without a fixed webway portal rather than a massive, obvious target. DE are supposed to sneak attack in the night, and I can't see an executor giving the element of surprise.

Anyway, new pictures...

I got a better shot of the Vessel of Pain, with added DE swirly stuff:

The Reavers are finished too, well, almost finished. Still need to do a little work on their bases.

I've also got a couple of closeups of my other vehicles:

How would they get the Storm Serpentish vehicle to a planet without a Webway? ?DROP IT? ?:p

Besides, the shadowfields surround its vehicle (Executor) in a giant black cloud. ?That seems perfect for the sneak attack at night you are referring to but... ?

Yes, your models look very nice. ?What colors are you using for the blades?

Presumably they'd planetfall it from a spaceship? I just don't see a race famous for travelling in light vehicles having a mantaesque vehicle, sorry. If they get one then plenty of other races should have one too.

I'm going for a bone effect on the blades, bronzed flesh highlighted with bleached bone, then a brown wash.

Update time...

I'm back from my travels, and have started a little work on these guys again.

Here's my WIP slavebringer...

And my WIP tormentor, designed to look like the one on the cover of Raiders...

More to come soon.
