The un-official name for our Recon Detachment when I was a cadet was the "Mekong Delta Frat Rats" !  :laugh: So we could go to all the sorority mixers ! :devil:   Our SF & Ranger instructors trained us for "Clandestine Ops" !  :cool:  We looked at it as infiltrating behind enemy lines ... I think the line from the field manual was "to penetrate enemy soft rear areas ..."  :blues:   It it's in the FM, I tell ya !! :whistle:
