And the current correct ruling is???

1. All units need to be less than 5 cm distant to count as intermingled, even if one or more of the units has scout.

or

2. If a model is 5 to 10 cm from a unit with the scout ability it can count as intermingled.

Came across a similar situation in my game over the weekend with Emperor's Shadow. We played that you could call intermingled upto 10cm from scouts. Realy ruined my engagement though.

Note that the 10cm intermingle was from a FAQ and not from rulebook. Now that FAQ doesn't exists, so it is no longer valid. The rule above merely prevents using scouts to "screen from behind" and prevent close combat assaults.

That´s actually great news, complaints about the 10cm-intermingled were something I heard all the time. But, as I said in previous discussions, you are not "caught" intermingled, you chose to be when you set up or move your troops.

Anyway, the 2008 ruling is much better, thanks a lot!

Edit:

Just stumbled over a post by myself in the relevant rules sticky over at epic-battles.de announcing the end of scout-intermingling dated March 20th this year!

While CSM-termies are fearsome in these circumstances, they can be nullified to a considerable extent if the trenches are used to enclose a smaller area, such that there is nowhere for them to land. Even so, you need to get lots of supporting firepower and extensive use of trench "cover saves" to beat off the attack.

As TRC will tell you, the object of the Siegies is attrition. So keep in cover as much as possible, defend in depth and use lots of firepower - even if that only places BMs, it can be sufficient to wear down opposing activations and formations.

The opponents tactics are to concentrate on a small section of the defences, try to occupy the trenches to use them against the Siegies and force them into the open - where they die in droves as we have seen.

I fully agree. A rematch is about...

This was the first time Warphead used his Siegers, I´m confident it´ll be a bloodbath next time...
