Sigh. For some time now I have planned on taking a trip to the big island of Hawaii so I can be on top of Mauna Kea for my 40th birthday.

But Yen developed a bad tooth, so we had to cancel for her root canal (and a variety of other more mundane reasons).

I got back most of my money, but American Airlines did not do me any favors with their crazy cancellation policy. I guess I won't book through them in the future.

It's a bummer.

I'm really sorry to hear that O-man. Mauna Kea would have been a great place to celebrate the big 4-0. I've been wanting to go to Hawaii also, mainly to see Pearl Harbor.

I'll agree that American doesn't have the most friendly cancellation policy, but I still book flights with them whenever I fly into DFW. I don't mind paying a little extra for direct flights.

commiserations dude; will try to catch you later on in the year at another tourney; i'm afraid i'm managing to go on a 'holiday' (see other thread...) so can't wait to see what goodness you get up to otherwise until i get back; make sure to celebrate the bday in style regardless!
