Ah Epic, the game where models are tiny, the battles huge and I get to field multiple titans without having to sell my vital organs.

Recently me and a few mates have gotten stuck into Epic.

I've chosen my own Craftworld (as yet unnamed) using a colour scheme I originally intended to use for a 40K army a few years back. As tends to happen, the idea got shelved but I've always wanted to go back to the scheme. Fate (and the 2nd hand buy 'n' sells) gave me an opportunity, albeit in a much smaller scale.

Inspired by the likes of Mark Logue, Onyx and the other Epic fanatics floating round I've got stuck into the painting.

Considering the majority of my painted stuff is sitting mid-game on a gaming table a few suburbs away, I've only got one WIP shot to kick off. A unit of Phoenix bombers.

Comments, criticisms etc welcome.

Well no progress on a unit of Revenants (apart from considering paint jobs that will do the figures justice), but I got stuck into one of my least enjoyable tasks tonight - basing. Even that's not finished - a few of the bases need another coat of grey round the rim. Naturally, I noticed this after I'd uploaded the photos!

So far the painted army's looking at:

Avatar
Most of a Guardian Troupe - (one squad of guardians + the heavy and support weapons to go)
Scorpion Super-Heavy
Phoenix Bombers

And a very dark shot of the whole lot:

Comments welcome.

Cheers for the comments guys.  :agree:

BlackLegion, I'm reluctant to call them Alaitoc because I'm not using many rangers. I want to go Guardian heavy so it'll be more Ulthwe in style.

Yup, I saw your Iyanden thread.

I'm shamelessly stealing your idea of using the old plastic falcons as wave serpents. I've got enough metal falcons but wave serpents are in short supply.

Hmm. While you didn't use any yellow but white instead and afte ri liiked at the other craftworld in Codex Eldar your Eldar look quite similar to Craftworld Iybraesil :)

Nice find BlackLegion.  :agree:

My craftworld's got a name now! Looking at the (limited) fluff online:

Iybraesil is a largely matriarchal society. As followers of Morai-Heg, the Iybraesil Eldar constantly aspire to recover the hidden secrets of the crone worlds, the original homeworlds of the Eldar race which now reside in the Eye of Terror. The colour of Iybraesil is blue accompanied by white.

So Morai-Heg is the Crone goddess and is heavily associated with banshees. Had a look around and found this:

The War Council - An Iybraesil Eldar Short Story

Not "official" but a Banshee Autarch looks like it'll be the perfect addition. Or maybe even convert up Jain Zar.

Crone worlds supply a ready source of spirit stones, so it strikes me that they'd have a fair supply of wraith constructs (which suits me fine).

Amazing how this stuff tends to come together.

Another quick update.

One Revenant's been finished - with figures like this I don't like batch painting. I'd prefer to do one to find out any tricks or tips that I can use in the second.

In this case, I learnt that I'm going to remove the guns before painting!

Next are the Wave Serpents. Like a few other people's armies that I've seen online, I'm using the old plastic Falcons as a cheap alternative to the metal SG versions.

Basing to follow - I ran out of time yesterday before getting in a 4000 point game in against Orks.

Next on the painting desk - Striking Scorpions and Dire Avengers, plus units of Fire Prisms and Night Spinners.

I've never been a fan of the metal Wave Serpents.

Anyone paint up the FW versions?

Instead of basing them on black bases might I suggest using the base of the GW flight stands instead? I did some metal falcons up that way and they looked quite good

Yeah, I've seen that done before and I reckon it looks good.

I've just got to get a bag of the flying bases.  :agree:
