why not just use the DKOK list and go AV light?

Because the Tallarn get sentinels, and different types of sentinels.

They get Snipers (Probably a lot more snipers than are normally allowed, probably their inf companies already come with 4 embedded sniper units).

They get different Rough Riders.

Instead of having the mech company wouldn't a stand alone formation like the tank formation sit better? 6 infantry, 1 commander and 4 chimeras?

Also rough rider company might be useful here as well (if talking about Tallarns).

Tallarns don't seem to have more rough riders than other armies, just better rough riders.

Hey E&C- our comments got crossed in the interweb: I was making a general comment to earlier posts.

A tallarn light infantry list is a great idea.  Ive been toying around with the concept of anew special rule that allows infantry to unmount from horses and fight on foot- like dragoons or ww1 australian light horse.  I was thinking specifically of a tallarn list for this too :)

Ah righto.

Here's the kind of thing I was thinking of for the Tallarn: Tallarn Light Inf Regiment 1.01

Like it.

Shouldn't the bombers heavy bolters get an AP stat though?

One of them is rear-mounted, so would never be used to target infantry (As the gunner should be scanning the skies for incoming enemy fighters!), and the other is top-mounted and so simple can't target the ground at all.

Modern forces would have fighters, however WWII ish (which is almost 40k) had organic flak, at least until mid war - by which point assets were handled differently. But Epic is a bit different. The Brits used a variety of flak from jeeps with machine guns to wheeled carriages towed by trucks.

Oh heres some arty info.

Divisional Artillery

Headquarters, Divisional Artillery

Three Field Regiments - each with twenty four guns/howitzers divided into two Batteries, with three Troops of four guns per Battery.

Anti-tank Regiment - with forty eight 2-pdr anti-tank guns, divided into four Batteries, with three Troops of four guns per Battery.

Arty wise batteries of 4 stationary and companies of 12 could be interesting and fit the fw habit of two to a pack.

Yes, we too feel alot of Epic forces are a hi-tech version of WWII. And I studied WWII TO&Es extensively too and gamed with them a lot. And in the early years most organic support weapons were either carried by the troops or towed by some sort of wheel vehicle or even horses.
