I have several ideas I'd like to have spun up.  I've had this same idea before, just isn't as feasable for me as I move often.

I just placed an order for a tablet (Wacom Bamboo-Fun medium).

Why?

1) It's cool.
2) Bella and I both enjoy 'coloring' on the computer.
3) Useful in MoI, which will probably be my 3D software purchase. Well, either that, or Rhino.

Update: tinkered with MoI, it seems neat. It gets along with a mouse quite well.

Tablet due on Friday.

Tablet neat, good for some things, not for others. That's life. Bella enjoys it, too.

Continuing to learn MoI. 15 days left in evaluation.

Considering forsaking the MDX15, and saving my pennies (500 thousand of them) for this: http://www.desktopfactory.com/our_product/.

But that's putting the cart before the horse.

Future plans: play with MoI until the eval period ends. Try Rhino (30 more days there). Make decision according to experiences and poverty level.

You're right! So, where did I get the desktop factory idea from... ah, I see. Nimmrod posted adjacent to TheHobb's (aka NinjaMagic, aka Todd) post.

Mmm. Don't know if the DesktopFactory's machine looks like it has sufficient resolution. The sample images have a weird texture, and I'm not seeing any intricate pieces.

Let's see, the cheapest Solidscape machine is an R66... frightful! $36000 dollars. Now I'm sad again.

Desktop - the intricate stuff should depend a good deal on the programming and then on the resolution permitted by the powder and the beam, as well as the motion of the beam. Or maybe not, might be based on something different... Umm.
Still, it does look a bit grainy. I guess the $$$$$ for the Solidscape machine go into an improved resolution.

My drunken brain perceives these facts:

"The Desktop Factory 3D printer builds robust, composite plastic parts that can be sanded and painted when desired."  Sanding bad.

"The thickness of each layer is 0.010 inch." R66 layer is 0.0005 in, a factor of 20.
