Earliest BFG reference?

I was searching through old WDs earlier, looking for Titan colours, when I spotted this article in WD119 (Nov 89!). It's a 3 pager, but here's the first page.
Obviously it's the game that became SpaceFleet, but note the name at the top of the pic. Is this the first time BFG gets a mention?

wow, so was Battle fleet gothic the orginal name for Spacefleet < i think that was its name?> intresting to see how they reused the name...

I still have some of those Space Fleet Eldar ships waiting to be painted!  :blush:  Fantastic models.

I am not sure where the picture fits in, but Space Fleet was the original version of a 40K space game. It used the 'cunning box lid combat tray' - which was terrible! - but was a fast, fun little game.

The pre-release BFG rules were then published in WD for a time, before the official release of the game.

Oh I can't resist any more, I've got almost 20 of them (there's two types and I have the big one in plastic and lead!). I've always meant to use them for a craftworld eldar force.
