One thing I dislike though is that with the new NSL corvettes, the middle engine fell off each one with only moderate pressure when filing the mold lines.  On the up side, it happened with each one so they're uniform at least.

The new NSL ships have jumped to the top of my favourite designs from GZG very quickly. Far better than their older sculpts. I also find that in general I like FT ships above a certain size, usually around Cruiser and larger. For some reason, the smaller vessels - from all of the fleets - just dont work for me. Also, the FT range is small compared to others and if you use them in a game like BFG you should go one size higher - for example the FT battleships make good BFG cruisers.

I also like the 'Firefly' class ship.  :p

Very nice ships and much better than old design NSL, Some of them would even fit in with a Star Wars fleet based on Nebulon B.

I am looking forward to GZG shortly finalising the ship stats for their new designs, having recently introduced new fleets for all of the 4 core main powers. And then soon after that we can look forward to Full Thrust 3rd Edition, tidying up rules currently spread over 5 books that are now OOP. In the meantime all of the rules are available on GZG website free to download.

Cheers

James

I'm not counting on seeing 3rd edition anytime soon.  I'll believe it when I see it.

And I don't think printing is very likely.  I think, all of their rules are out-of-print now.  I've seen it stated previously that they weren't interested in redoing the main rules, as they no longer sell sell rulebooks, having gone to pdf's.  Even still, there are hints of 3rd Ed.

If they do produce a 3rd Ed, I think it would be a pdf.  Maybe not free, but a pdf nonetheless.

Dean (Star Ranger) posted this on SCN Forums:

"Nothing officially official, but Jon Tuffley did make the following statement in an email to the GZG mailing list on April 6th:
Jon said " There should be some news on this quite soon...... " Good news or Bad new's Jon, is there a 3 in the title.

The cryptic comment was referring to FT2.5 stats and SSDs for the new design ship minis - Dean (Star Ranger) is very kindly putting a lot of work into collating designs from various sources for these and making up SSDs for them. More news as the project progresses!

As to FT3, it IS getting closer - after a long period of inactivity due to other stuff needing to be done, real progress is currently being made.

Jon (GZG)

More when I finish.

Also GZG will soon be discontinuing casting the old style FT fleets (ie FB1 ships) as they have new ships out now and the old molds are wearing out, so buy them now if you want they (I do need to get that bit of news up...)"

This was shortly followed by the release of Full Thrust Lite, a 4 page PDF free to download on GZG website. It has 2 pages of rules & 2 pages of ship display sheets. It is intended to be a starter set of rules introducing new players to the core FT rules.

Next up would be Fleet Book 3 with new SSD's for newer fleets introduced since FB1 & FB2 including Ravagers, IF, IJN, New Israeli and OUDF. Also for resculpts for new fleets for ESU, NAC, NSL & FSE.

You are right in that GZG make their money from selling minatures not rulebooks. However now they have completed the resculpts for 4 main fleets, including new tankers and tenders, they have more timne to go back over the rules. At the moment I am not anticipating FT3 would have major changes when it eventually arrives- more of a tidying up exercise with rules currently spread out over several books.

Cheers

James
