Onyx:  I'd never gone and perused your terrain before today.

Dang.  That's some sweet stuff.  You should do a writeup on doing water features.  The waterfall you did was fabulous.

Many thanks for all the kind words ? .

nealhunt - here's a quick write-up I did on another forum.

The waterfall was made by cutting a piece of polycarbonate clear sheeting (left over from building my outdoor bar/pergola area) and glueing it in place with a hot glue gun. I poured the resin water down the polycarb waterfall from the top. Woodland Scenics Water Effects was applied over the polycarbonate and smeared into shape using my fingers. Make sure there are no straight edges from the sheeting showing by hiding them with the Water Effects. A Quick drybrush with white and its done.

I use a 2 part resin from Bunnings called Glass Coat. Its original use is for sealing/varnishing wooden furniture with a high gloss coating but I've found it to be very good at making water. A drop of food-colouring (or paint) can be used to give the water any kind of finish you like (I've used blue, green and brown colourings to get different effects).

The resin is mixed 50/50 with a hardner (should come with the resin) and slowly stirred. Add the colouring in now and stir again until all the resin is the same colour. Remeber less is more with colouring. You really will only need 1 drop of colour to make a big difference to the resin.

Make sure the surface to be watered is sealed (resin eats polystyrene for example) with paint and any board edges are blocked off. Remember to tease the egde of the resin once poured to remove the round egde that will form when pouring (I use a toothpick for this). Once the resin has had a few hours to dry/harden you can drag a tool (I used a spoon much to my wife's annoyance ?) along the surface to form waves, ripples etc. I've also used Woodland Scenics Water Effects (very similar to PVA glue) to form ripples, swirls etc. Drybrush with white to show white water, foam, wave caps etc and you're done.

Now that I've finished the Lord of the Rings commission (LINK) I can get back into Epic properly.

I've managed to get this I.G. army together for a mate. It's an Ad Mech based force (although he wanted to be able to use any list). Mostly DRM with some GW and Exodus Wars thrown in. The Ordinatus is based on an M1 Marksman tank from Battle-Tech. My friend did all the converting and I just based and painted it all. This is his first army and to say he's hooked is an understatment!

Just realised I forgot to paint the Ogryns shades ?:confuse: ?D'oh!

The Praetorians are unashamedly copied from Warmaster Nice's designs. Excellent ideas WMN!

More pics as my friend emails them to me.
We will be adding to this force as he can afford it (Titans from DRM etc)

I've been able to finish off the other 3 LR Crusaders, 4 Tau ScorpionFish and another Ordinatus Minoris. I'll take some pics tomorrow.

Gorgeous waterfall- so well done could have been looking at photo of real life.

Nice tech guard- would love to see some close ups and also a counts as list for DRM/EW figures.

Cheers

James

Thank you so much for all the very kind words ? .

I'll add more details about the Tech Guard as I can get the photos off my mate (they got downloaded onto his laptop instead of my pc - D'oh! ).

Aaron - I'd love to build a fully detailed Epic board but I have a storage problem and I've found the smaller terrain pieces to be easy to use (if not quite as pretty to look at).
One day when I finally get a games room.... :;):

Comlpeted another Thunderhawk (on the right).

Also got the 4 LR Crusaders finished.

I also got my Tau ScorpionFish proxies painted (they're from CAV).

They're a bit small (the same size as the older style SG Baneblades - both 3DC) but we take that into account when playing, so it's all good.

I've also been able to build another Ordinatus Minoris for my Legio Victorum Titan legion.

The one on the right. It's made using a Battle-Tech Morrigu Fire support vehicle base and the gun off a DRM Firemouth.

I've just been trying to clear out all the little projects I had lying around so I can get ready for a large project I've got coming up - an Iron Warriors army for a fellow forum member.

Thanks guys.

Now that I've finished the Crusaders I'll hopefully be playing the BT more often (although We'll always use Thunderhawk Annihilators because every army should have access to at least one TK weapon).

Anyway, here's more of the Tech Guard army I did for my mate.

Basilisks and Hellhounds

Hydras and Leman Russ'

Manticores and Preatorians

Rough Riders and Shadowsword (with Baneblade in the background)

Stormtroopers (with Valkyries) and Vultures
