No ... there will be Boyz, many here, that  will stick with whatever version of Epic they play. I like the DRM rules so I probably will not use much from any version of Epic. But I will use some ... And we've talked about this before, there is no shortage of good Sci-fi 6mm models ...

I don't think I buy the time-poor argument.

Don't underestimate the power of time savings. I've already had two Warmaster players express interest in it who have never been interested in Epic.

At the moment im keeping my options open, i like seeds of war, but i also really like Blitzkrieg commander, so that will probably mean ill like scifi commander as well.  :D

There are many options out there, im experimenting with command horizon at the moment as well, I like this system because of its simplicity and speed of play, not to mention you command a much larger army!

As for epic....well i dont know what the future has in store for it, i reckon GW will kill it off, eventually. shame really but i for one refuse to buy GW stuff anymore.
Id rather give my money to DRM or Baccus.

cheers
steve

:D  Maybe Sci-Fi Commander will actually pull more people into Epic!

My opinion is none of the above. I dont think that Sci_fi Commander will spell the death of Epic, but I also dont see it currently growing in support. Right now, GW dont need any help to kill the game.

I dont think that any single system will divert a huge number of players away from Epic (which is different from non-scifi wargamers picking up SFC). Look at it this way, there was a long period between second and third edition, and between third and fourth edition. And, in this time, people kept a flame going - although there was not the competition that currently exists.

I dont really see why any new game has to stop you playing an old one. The fact is that no other 6mm game has the backing or (limited) miniatures of the 40K universe, and that will always carry some weight.

I personally have always been in favour of bigger dice. Though for me the D12 is king due to 12 being a better number to work with than 10!

Chris and I are in total dice agreement!  :D

Hi!

Well, I will assume the broad definition of "killing epic" as in total disappearance of the game. Since in my view epic has been "dead" for quite a long time.....

I think there is certainly a market for more 6mm sci-fi games. I don't necessarily think sci-fi commander will take away or diminish "epic" since GW has accomplished that in a more thorough fashion that any competitor could ever manage.

It may actually spark more interest, since right now not many people care, let alone know epic exists. I think these rules are a good advertisement for 6mm sci-fi gaming as a whole and some are bound to give epic a first time look or even revisit it. That's a good thing.

6mm sci-fi is a very small niche market. Remarkably small. Any new rules, add, rather than subtracts. I guess there's advantages to being small. :)

As I have said before, we are the few totally committed fans. Nothing short of death will pry epic from our hands..... :;):

I think that asking if Sci-fi Commander is killing Epic is taking the focus away from the fact that GW IS KILLING EPIC.

To me Epic is 40K-world miniatures in 6mm, so it has nothing to do with system they are played. So if Sci-fi Commander is good gaming system it actually can revitalise Epic to me.

I recognize that some have become, well, bitter and jaded. But please do not let that reflect on all of us!

I agree with Rug.

Ditto.

If anything Epic in the UK is growing - 18 players at Full Scale assault and there would have been more than 20 at Open war but for size restrictions.

Our group at warhammer world has gone from 3 to 6 regular players and the number of occasional players has increased also

I'll stick to Battlefleet Gothic anyway.....

As long as we rather play tabletop games than pc/console games I'm happy.

i am not bitter or something like that i want the game to go on and on i am just a little frightened by the lack of new models to epic and want them to keep flowing from the GW studio (hopeful in a endless cascade)
