Hey everyone. I've recently just started epic and i've been juggling around a few army lists but can't decide whether they are good or not so i'll look towards your judgment.

I'm using the core steel legion list from the rule book.

Regimental HQ - 500pts

Steel Legion Infantry Company - 350pts
- Snipers
- Snipers

Steel Legion Tank Company - 650 pts
- Vanquisher Tank upgrade

- Steel Legion Artillery Company - 650 pts
(6Bask, 3Mant)

Sentinel Squadron - 100pts

Baneblade - 200pts

Warhound Titan - 250pts

2 Thunderbolt Fighters - 150pts

2 Thunderbolt Fighters - 150pts

Total: 3000pts

My tactical idea
The Regimental HQ for a mobile infantry formation plus the reroll the Supreme Comander offers. The Infantry Company with 2XSnipers for possibly a garrison formation which can pick off Nobs, Commissars, specific units.

The Tank Company is for a heavy hitter which should be able to take quite a bit of fire and not get snuffed out. The Artillery for some serious concentrated fire and to snuff out large infantry formations with the extra blast templates. Though i'm contemplating breaking the unit up into 3X3 Artillery units.

The Sentinels are there for running to grab objectives and cheap unit to create cross-fire. For 100pts its there mainly as a sacrificial unit if i need one for that role.

The Baneblade is there to sustain fire infantry formations and because i just really think the baneblade is cool.

The Warhound i'm not really sure what i'm going to do with . I could really use a suggestion here.

And the Thunderbolts are for CAP or hitting opportune units.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Warhounds, like all Titans should be used as mobile heavy weapons platforms. Rapidly move them into position, and make the enemy Titans priority targets, followed by WEs. The same way ground forces need air superiority, in Epic they have to have Titan superiority too ... IMO ... :)

I have a second Warhound (FW 2 pack). Should i try to squeeze that in there? Possibly remove a couple artillery pieces to make it fit?

You have two formations that cost the most - so two BTS, important just to have one. Also no ground flak. Further you can only take an upgrade once (so no two lots of snipers). Finally mixed manticores/basilisk aren't that good unless you can fire direct with the basilisk. With minimum of changes I would suggest your list be

Regimental HQ - 550pts
-Hydra

Steel Legion Infantry Company - 250pts

Steel Legion Tank Company - 700 pts (BTS)
- Vanquisher Tank upgrade
- Hydra

- Steel Legion Artillery Company - 650 pts
(9 Basilisk)

Sentinel Squadron - 100pts

Baneblade - 200pts

Hydra Battery - 150pts

Warhound Titan - 250pts

2 Thunderbolt Fighters - 150pts

Ill also chip in that single batteries of manticores can be particularly effective.

Well, yes, but the more changes we make the more like one of our lists it is :)

is that many hydra's really necessary? i figured the two squadrons of Thunderbolts were enough for Anti-air O_o.  It seems like overkill to me. I doubt ever army i'll face will be totting that much air power. Especially after reading a lot of the battle reports on here, it seems that many is not required.

Though down the road i may pick up a blister of Hydra's.

Taking your suggestions i shuffled my list around. I really need to place another mail order with GW though lol.

Regimental HQ - 500pts

Steel Legion Infantry Company - 250
- Snipers 50pts
- Ogryn 50pts

Tank Company - 650pts
- Vanquisher Tank

Artillery Battery (Basilisk) - 250

Artillery Battery (Manticore) - 250

Sentinel Squadron - 100

Lunar Class Cruiser - 150

Warhound Titan - 250

2 Thunderbolts - 150

2 Thunderbolts - 150

Army Total: 3000pts

I decided to take the Lunar Class for the Pin Point Attack. Hopefully soften up a warmachine or titan. I really really wished i owned a Shadowsword because i would have taken that instead of the Lunar Cruiser + adding the Ogryn to infantry company. Or maybe some Hydra would have been nice too.

Thanks for mentioning the "not allowed to take double upgrade". I completely missed that and didn't want to look like i was cheating. lol
