Just a question, rather than a specific request for change - What is the reason behind not having a Dread formation for the Orks? It seems that they cost the same as a Gunwagon as an upgrade, but suffer the same problem as Marine Dreads - they slow down a formation. I like the idea of a Dreadnought horde, and cant see how this may be 'broken'.

Enlightenment?

The OGBM list has "Snappa Mobs" that cover Dreads and Killa Kans as formations.

Because they all move 15cm you can easily garrison Ork warbands with Dreads to act as "mobile cover", and you can get a lot more than with Marines.

Dammit. For some reason, the existance of the OGBM list just refuses to stay in my head!

Any reason, why this has 2 Dreadz and 2 Kanz for 150 points, while a Gunmob has 4 at 150, and both Gunwagonz and Dreads are 35 points as an upgrade but Kanz are 25 points?

Good point with garrisoning. I am thinking of just having a horde of Dreads stumbling forwards with claws, like a bizzare zombie movie!  :D

If the Mob were 200 points for five Dreadz, this would mean that it was no cheaper than a Normal Warband. Would this be better?

With the Stompa Mob you have something close to an all-Dreadnought Mob.

Killa Kans as Grots, Dreads as Boyz, and the Stompas as Nobz!

You know, I might try that!

Wll actually Killakanz are steered by Grotz, Deffbots (= Dreadnoughts) by Orks and i bet in Stompas there is at least one Nob :D

Because of the possibility to put them into Landa.
(this has been discussion on this and there is also battle report of testing this out a bit)

Hm, upgraded snappa mob..

2 killa kans, 3 dreadnaughts, 1 stompa: 225/400/575

(although I think French are right when they think that Stompas are overpriced)

I've used the stompa/dreadz/kanz mob quite a few times. I usually also include a flakwagon.  Makes for tough formation to crack, deployed right up in the enemies face (garrisoned). Expensive in points though :)

Expensive, and slow. But, I had a game early in EAs development where a Mob of Dreads stumbled through a town, blowing Marines out of buildings on the way.  :D

Maybe it is the Tau in me, but I like to scatter AA units throughout my forces, so I have a handful of Flakwagonz.

My gut feeling is that Dreadz are a little over-priced, but I dont have play experience to justify this. They just dont seem to stack up against other units such as Gunwagonz or Stompas.

Anyway, I will simply paint up a few Dreadz when I get the time (currently scheduled for around 2011!) and substitute some Gunwagonz to see how they perform.

The cost of the Snappa Mob is still open for adjustment.  So far, I haven't seen a major reason to change them, mostly because the formation progressions for 150/250/350 and 125/225/325 are so close it's extremely hard to tell if it needs changed one way or the other.  I'll probably change it, if for no other reason than the "extras" cost is 120 points, so the 125 progression makes more sense.

I've fielded Stompas w/ Dreads and Kanz because the added bulk is very nice for Mob Up and for suppression.  I've also fielded warbands with 2-3 Stompas and 2-3 dreads or kanz to provide backbone (nice armor even though it adds AVs, and good for extra FF power) and cover for the boyz if they need to cross out in the open.  Both formations work well.

As far as pure Stompas, I really wanted the Big/Uge stompa mobz to make the cut for the revisions.  I think they are just a touch too expensive (probably ~70 points) and as a result they are rarely fielded.  However, with 6 for 400 and 9 for 575, they look more like a Ork/Walker version of a Leman Russ company.

Dreadz do add a nice punch to a Warbands CC capability, but a Dread mob might be a good idea.

Yup, it certainly made them more reasonable choice.
