In addition to my Tech Priest as a character suggested from the AMTL thread

Could you point out the post?

That thread has 17 pages to date...

I'm curious why the Support Squads and Mole Mortar/Rapiers don't have separate unit profiles.  Are they manned by Skitarii?

My proposed stats for Mole Mortars can be found on page 5.

I have considered having them manned by 'skitarii crew' (They effect of which would be to change the armour save to 5+) but have not done so in the cause of simplicity.

Fluffwise, the crews might not be wearing heavy combat armour as they're not frontline troops.

Also, what do you think of a core formation or just mortars or rapiers? I would think the SKitarii would use these in quantity given their access to all the fun AM tech.

Whilst a support formation may be justified, a core formation of only mortars would be... exploitable, IMHO.

Finally, what was the reason for making the artillery, tank, super heavy and Praetorians support formations as opposed to core formations?

My impression of the Ad-Mech Skitarii PDF forces is of a troop-heavy force, with infantry at the core.

The large variety of support formations allows easy theming, whilst ensuring that there will normally be 2-3 infantry formations on the board as well.

Thanks.

I do think that the Tech Priest deserves unique stats, if only to allow the Tech Lord to have a suitable unit to join.

On a related note, the next version of the list has a restriction that states that Tech Lords may only join Tech Priest units (No Ordinatus with a symbiotic Tech Lord, sorry!).

V1.03
Changed mole mortar upgrade from 3 to 4 mortars.
Restricted Tech Lords so that they can only join Tech Priest units.

I'm currently reading "Dark Apostle" here the Tech-Guard plays a major role.
So fart i unearthed the following secrets about the Skitarii :D

Skitarii or Tech-Guard
Is the overall term for the Adeptus Mechanicus Army. Main formation seems to be called Cohort. Formations are disembarking in perfect rectangles of 10 men deep and 100 men wide (= 1000men). This could be a cohort but i'm not sure.
A Demi-Cohort of Hypaspists and Praethorians is supposed to fit in one of an Imperator Titans leg bastions.

Hypaspists
Are the generic soldiers. Armed with lasguns and deep visored helmets. Half of their heads are replaced withsome augmetics and body party too.

Sagitarii
Are the weapon teams. These are two Servitors linked to each other. One bears a StormShield for protectionagainst closecombnat and ranged attacks. The upper right corner is cut out to allow its partner to shoot over his shoulder.
The heavy weapons they beart is not exactly describet but i suppose they are the usual Lascannons, Heavy Bolter,s etc...

Praetorians
These are combat Servitors. Heavy armoured (Carapace or even Power Armour style?) one arm is replaced with a multi barelled assault cannon(seems to be multi barelled Autocannons?) the other with a heavy close combat weapon. Their lower body half is replaced with tracks making them look like strange centaurs.

Cataphractarii
These are Preathorians which are even heavier armoured (Light Vehicle?). One or both arms are replaced with Heavy Weapon (Heavy Bolter, Missile Launchers and Assault Cannons are mentioned) one of the arms can have an heavy close combat weapon.

Chimeras and Leman Russes are mentioned but they could belong to the Elysians which are also featured in the novel.

Gorgons
Seem to be the main means of transportation.

Ordinai Minoris of the Ballisteraii
Are described as being having the length of three Leman Russes. It has two tracked units which support the weight of a Titan weapon between them.

Ordinatus
Is describet as having the size of a city block. It is supported on sixteen tracked units. It has two anti-aircraft turrets too.

Oh and forgit: ALL Skitarii are lobotomised = Servitors. But if disconnected to their HQ they would stand still and do nothing.

Any way to represent this in Epic? Making them all Fearless should be out of the question because their commanders still have a will of their own.

Kill the Tech-priest they break? Units must stay within 15cm of Tech-priest?  Something similar to the 'nid rules would be appropriate, if people wanted to represent this.

Indeed, I hint as much in their fluff entry.

Perhaps 'a broken skitarii formation may only rally if their attendant tech priest unit is still on the tabletop', or words to that effect.

If such a rule is desired, of course.

Make a poll? :D

Note that every army has at least one special rule (ATSKNF for SM, Waaagh! for Orks, Extra BTS for Baran, Farsight for Eldar, Commissars for IG, etc...). So why not the Skitarii too?

Are all tech guard labotomised?  I thought that the ones in the soul drinker books weren't.

It must vary from forgeworld to forgeworld.

Two ways of representing that the commanders keep the tech guard in order.

1) Give them leader.  In my Regulus list each techguard formation would have 2 or 3 tribunes, these helped them shed blast markers.

2) Give them ATSKNF as long as the tribune is alive.

So the current 'stock' Ordinatii (Golgotha, etc.) are Minoris?

Hot diggity damn! That means even bigger things to convert!

Yes the thought had crossed my mind too :D They would make splendid models for Ordinatus Minoris.
They always looked a bit small to me. In the novel "Iron Hands" the Ordinatus Armageddon there seems to look bigger as the current models too.

Sod that. :(  I'll have to rethink and cut things up.

Also: stock Ordinatii at DC2...?

The stock ordinati are majoris, not minoris, but the models are just undersized compared to the fluff.
