Official Dark Eldar 1.5 list

So, let's get into the nitty gritty:

Read Appendix A and check out the list of changes. ?Most notably will be the across-the-board price cuts and the formation size changes for the Partisan formations. ?The message was received loud and clear: too few, too expensive. ?Let me say that when Frank, Erik and I came up with the list we knew it was too expensive. ?One thing we wanted to avoid was an overpowered list. ?It is easier to giveth than to take away, and now that the results are coming in faster (more DE players) we can give to the list where it was deficient.

The free planetfall and Support Craft rules are not in the list because we still support them being part of a core ruleset. ?With that in mind, I will have a section of Raiders that includes these special rules outside of the army lists for ease of reference.

Formation size changes may be welcomed by some and shunned by others. ?Let me explain my thinking: The Dark Eldar are NOT a winning army and the smaller formations were too expensive and dying too quickly. ?Players wanted to upgrade them but found them more expensive than the base formations. ?The results were heavily maxed out War Engine lists, too few activations, and the already intrinsic weaknesses of the Dark Kin. ?

So I took a very hard look at the pricing and decided that the 4-strong Partisan formations were too cheap, creating a 'popcorn army' that really was not in the spirit of a Kabal centered Dark Eldar force. ?It may be something that is appropriate for another Dark Eldar list, but not this one. ?I was not alone in these sentiments and after a lot of feedback I changed the formation sizes to six. ?The infantry are still capped at eight units.

Ravagers were altered slightly (see the Ravager poll conducted). ?I will want to review this in 6 months or a year but for now I feel comfortable this nudge will assist with armored enemies.

Fleet of Foot works! ?The special rule was quite handy in the most recent games and only hampered by a lack of activations. ?Now that the pricing has been adjusted, activations will go up and this special rule should have a much stronger effect on games, providing a boost for the DE as a whole.

The list is still going to be difficult to play but you should have a much easier go of it.

Okay, fellow kabalists, lets hear what you have to say.

Hey Bill!

One comment from a quick review; the way the following is written:

1 Dracon
1 Sybarite

Means you must have one, and only one, Dracon and Sybarite in your entire army; drop the "1"s and you should be okay.

The pics were fillers, Hena, and unfortunately they differ in size just enough to frustrate me.  I'm finding I could go back in and fiddle with the document endlessly.  What will probably happen is I'll replace those pictures on the next version of Raiders when I have time and energy to take some good quality pics on some well done terrain.  For now I'm hoping people can let it slide.

Dot has been removed.  Good eyes! (NOTHING ESCAPES HENA)

Stunning work, Mosc. If this is any indication of what the overall finished product will look like, I'm very, very impressed.

Character is listed as an allowable upgrade for a few of the kabals, but there's no Character upgrade in the upgrade section.

I think it be clearer if you put one there saying you can take a Dracon, etc.

Dave, changes will be made.  I forgot to do it.  UGH.
Hena, pg 3 is correct. However pg 5 should be "on to" (fixed now) amd pg 7 is fixed too.
Keep it coming though.  When the whole Raiders pdf comes out I'd love to have it free of all these annoying mistakes.

(Hena @ Mar. 20 2008,15:40)
QUOTE
p.9 on the Kashnarak Beast entry
"In the center of Commorragh stands the Diavent Arena: a massive structure where the city's denizens
come to watch executioners and beast tamers torture their captives to the sickening sound of applause."
Could be semi-colon?

The colon is correct. A semi-colon would be needed if what proceeded it was an independent clause, which it isn't.

"To lend truth" is a phrase that means to make a rumor or legend more factual.  "Lent truth" is just the past tense of lend truth.

Critical hits double colon is not bolded and ... italic?

Sick that you noticed, but I won't complain. :p good catch on all those errors, in fact.
---
Kashnarak just sits there when it breaks (fearless).  I'll put it in the text box.  As for it's movement the whole idea is that it moves as far as it can every turn.  If it can't assault it sets itself up for the next turn.  It's actually quite humorous to watch it chase an army around the board.
