Another idea...have you considered the various Titan configurations? Hun, Eclispe, etc...

Could look like somthing as in the download below:

On the subject of the AAA orbital defense laser ordinatus mount:

Instead of that..or in additon to...how about having a fire control option..similar to the clp/quake cannon option which would enable a titan so equipped to have a failry significant AAA ability.

In my previous post....

Should have mentioned that the fire control AAA option would enable a titan so equiped with that and a volcano cannon to have a fairly significant AAA ability.

You are correct, although I was considering nudging the Ordinatus Minoris up to 175/200pts, as at 150 it can take a Volcano Cannon and end up the same price as a Shadowsword, whilst being somewhat better (2DC plus 2 Void Shields, versus 3DC).


I think the Minoris might be a bit expensive at 175pts. With a volcano cannon it comes to 225pts. Compared to a Shadowsword for 200pts, I'd prefer he Shadowsword.

The Minoris does have void shields, so has some ability to recover between turns that the Shadowsword doesn't have. But it only has 5+ RA save. Most fire will go through the two shields and the 2DC a lot quicker than it will go through the 3DC at 4+ RA.

The 2DC for the Minoris also makes it easier to break than the Shadowsword, and worse in engagements.

This is all just theory of course, and things may be different on the table. I suspect the flexibility of weapon choices for the Minoris will be a real advantage, for example.

But on paper it looks to me as if 150pts (as was originally the case) would be about the right level for the Minoris. I like the restriction of 1 per 1000pts though, as otherswise there will be hundreds of the blighters running around  :D

I found that the breaking on 2 Blast Markers was a bigger draw back than the  5+ RA save in my game. However on the theory side it takes 4 hits to kill a Minoris but a minimum of 3 for a Shadowsword. This makes the Minoris more expensive IMO.

I would like to have some sort of "anti-terminator" weapon for Titans. That is chainfist (or whatever name it has), thing that gives you +x CC MW attacks. It is quite "meh" to have just 1 extra attack which could do just 1 damage.

My proposal would be +3 CC MW extra attack, cost free (m?ybe +4 ). It is much easier to get enemies to FF range so CC has to be more powerfull. I think enemies should Feel when they are toe to toe with walking city block.

I was thinking of simply upgrading the Titan CCW to +2 attacks (Each doing D6 damage). +1 isn't particularly impressive.

I admit to an aesthetic dislike of the 'chainfist' type CCW (With +6 MW attacks, or whatever), as the idea of a Titan swinging a giant whirly-blade around its feet and killing shedloads of infantry with it makes me ammused. :)

What if the Lasburner were changed to have the ability to grant extra CC attacks as well as FF attacks.

Something like +3FF Extra Attacks (Note that unlike all other War Engine Firefight attacks, Lasburner attacks may be applied to units in close combat)

Obviously the syntax would need work.


Or am I just trying to bring realism to an area that should just conceed that Titans smacking up dozens of Infantry units with a Chainfist is just cool? :D

Keep the number of attacks low (about 3ish), so it is a weapon for smashing up snappa mobs and fex herds, not shed loads of infantry.

Even Carnifexes seem too little to be reasonable targets for a Titan Close Combat Weapon.
