I was 8 when I started playing GW games. It started with the paper cut blood bowl and the other bookshelf games put out by GW at the time. (Talisman etc)

To me this was the golden age of good gaming for GW. They put out some quality product.

When I was 11 we made another trip to England as my parents are from Stamford and we hadn't been in some time.
Naturally there were only GW stores in Britain at that time and I whined my way into every GW store that I could pester my parents to go to.

The first store we hit was in Nottingham and I wasn't allowed to buy anything. Just wander around in awe at the amazing sized stores they had.
The 2nd store was in London. It was in that store that I saw a HUGE game of Epic being played. I even remember one guy swearing due to his die rolling and was put in "time out" outside until he cooled off. haha.

Phantom titans and eldar against squats and marines is what I remember.
Needless to say I bugged my mom to pick me up the main space marine box set for 30 GBP and was successful in my begging.

We got back to my granny's house and I ripped it all open and started attempting to pop those tight little Cads into their holes with that OLD plastic melting glue they used to carry with the little brush.

I ended up begging a marine battle force box before we flew home and was satisfied with my haul.

Over th enxt few years I amassed a large collection due to picking up 2 more space marine box sets used from a few stores etc.

Its funny, but I've NEVER actually played a real game of Epic in my life. No one played it as GW was still very very small in North america at the time.
I ended up shelving epic in favour of picking up some of those old IG plastic box sets with 30 guys.

Skip forward to when I turned 18 and we were moving....I came across my boxes of Epic minis...
" No one plays this crap so its worthless".

Into the garbage it goes.

Fast forward to the present day where I'm 27.

DAMN you Chroma. DAMN YOUUUU!!!

Mr. Chroma had to make a post on a hobby stores website in my home town about..
"anyone play epic in the area..I'm A HUGE fan"...

damn you....I caught the bug again and am regretting tossing almost 2 chapters of marines with hordes of orks and eldar.

In the last week I've posted on various toronto message boards looking for people wanting to unload old epic collections.

I made a haul with ALOT of marines & 6 beetleback warlords for $30.

An IG collection with alot of arty..inf...warhound, fighters...all metal stuff for $150.

I made a large purchase of Orcs mostly still in blisters for 60% retail including more then a few sprues of eldar, marines, IG and some OOP metals. (Big mole drill thing, 3 IG lead robots, 3 OOP whirlwinds)

I have enough material to make roughly 10k of marines and I dont even want to think about the orcs.

A random rant I suppose. I'm heavy into FOW and I told myself I would only stick to one system, but this game for alot of us was our youth. It got us into gaming.
I'm actually very pleased with the way that the rules went for E:A, but very sad at the decay that GW has let set in.

My Marine force is being built around the "Badab Wars". Mainly the mantis warriors with other marine support detachments from the other Rebel chapters.
The terms from the Executioners turned out very well despite me going blind painting their 3 colour camo. (pics dont give them justice)

Thats about it....

Soon chroma shall feel the pain...in EPIC SCALE! MWAHAHAH!

**Here is what I've had time for over the last few days. Still ahven't mastered my Camera. I tried painting the mantis warriors symbol, but my printer kicks ass so I just decided to print it REALLY tiny and stick it on**

Welcome, not only to the boards, but also back to epic.  Great looking models you have there, can't wait to see more.  Keep up the great job and keep the pics coming.

Welcome
great painting.
Your story echoes a lot of us here (though personally I had just tossed it all in the attic)

Awesome painting.  Looking forward to your future projects.

Welcome back to the hobby, I had a similar incident where my wife gave away all my Epic to a local gaming club while I was on Exercise once as she thought I didnt want it anymore. I did an ebay rebuild and have been proping up Epic sales on GW and FW for a few years now.

Cheers
Aaron

Welcome back into the fold. EA is great game and I hope that you get as much enjoyment out of it as I have.

You are going to hate Chroma even more when I tell you this...  You are now obligated to make a road trip to Connecticut for the Northeast Tournament in April.  Better get crackin' on the rules. :p

Correction on the date. June is more likely when it will happen. So, you still have plenty of time to plan.  :D We (Dave and I) are still trying to nail down the date officially. Keep your eyes peeled.

And, welcome aboard.

Yes April I have other schemes (attempting to gain entry to Havoc XXIV with some Epic for gaming/recruiting).

June looks to be the month, we're waiting to hear back from the Time Machine on their Spring Open House date, as we don't want to do it that weekend.

Really? All the way from FL? I think either the second or fourth Saturday. So, 6/14 or 6/28. Just to reiterate, it hasn't been definitely determined yet.
