OK so I came up with a rough plan, mainly placement at this stage. So this is roughly what is in my head right now.

Where's the run way? ???

It's all VTOL craft... so, just landing pads, I assume.

Dave,

All VTOL stuff mate, no strip. Although I dont know how that works with Thunderbolts, I dont remember seeing any VTOL gear on them.

To a vexing situation, has anyone delt with Snapdragon before, I sent them an email with regard to purchasing the six items for my project and I was confronted with 59.00 pounds in postage cost, surely there is some drug use involved here. They say that its a 3kg parcel. I find it hard to believe that six pieces of resin equals 3kg.

Any clues, drop me a line. If anyone has a better option on shipping cost and can do a local purchase on my behalf, that would be nice also.

Cheers
Aaron

From their site-
"Please note postage to the USA Canada etc. IS VERY expensive.
I do not make money from postage.
(yeah right... )
I do not set UK post rates..."

Aaron, anyone who tells you that 6 X 1/300 scale buildings will cost 59GBP to post to Australia obviously doesn't want your business (or mine for that matter).

There must be a mix-up somewhere. Theres NO way it would cost that much...

Mind you, even their local UK postage rates are rediculous - 35% for postage (under 80GBP)??? No way!
Makes FW look cheap (never thought I'd say that :) ).

I was wanting to get some snapdragon stuff sent to New Zealand, but not paying that sort of price! :(

Looks like those of us down under might have to miss out.

Then let me suggested some sort of catapult apparatus.  A straight vertical take off expends a lot of fuel, and common day VTOL utilize a short launch ramp of sorts to cut down on the loss.

Dave, I'm sure this is in jest and quite funny as such.

Whats not funny is being charged 59GBP (thats pounds, not dollars) to post 6 small pieces of resin...

I have bought quite a few things from eBay (UK and US), F/W, GW UK, DRM etc. and have never been charged anything like this amount.

Its not even close...

Onyx I think Dave is just still discussing his earlier comment in the thread regarding lack of runways in the setup, rather than suggesting a solution to our OZ and NZ postage woes...   :)

Thats funny I read that exactly the same way as Onyx.  Funny how you mind gets totally caught up in what your thinking about.  Thanks for straightening that out Markconz.  Though if someone could build a catapult to fire all the cool stuff in the UK over to Australia and NZ then I would be totally stoked..... Though I don't know what shape it would be when it got here.

According to the Royal Mail website even (very unlikely) if it was 3KG, international economy costs just over ?45, unless you are looking for super quick delivery

Ha LOL...

That is too funny! Thanks Mark, now it all makes sense.

How does 6 bits of resin = 3kg???
Thanks for the info Justiniel - If the package is 3kg ( ??? ) then Snapdragon are making money from postage. A real pity because they have a very good product...

Easy.

Each piece weighs 100ish gramms.  So that is 600g (lets call it 750g to be on the safe side).

that leaves 2.25Kg of bubble wrap to make sure they get to you unbroken.

now how much bubble wrap would you get.... :D

Accepting Rags weight guesstimate= ?29 (parcel force), if you could get it classified as a small package about ?10 though I would think the pieces are a bit big for that option.

Indeed I was.  Should have quoted to be more clear :p.

However, I could see what I could rig for you guys down under.  I'll have to find a heck of a drop stone though to put resin into orbit... and I can't guarantee they won't melt on re-entry.
