Thank you for the comments. if I had had more free time the whole company would have been finished a month ago. Currently I have a week totally free, so I try to get some infantry painted. After that, three weeks of intensive work, and no rest.

Niece looking all :) But i would paint the edges of the bases white too.

it would probably look better than black, but when playing on a snow field it is easier to measure when one can simply measure from a black line to a target. It also helps me spot my units, should they enter a snowy forest or a similiar place.

Lovely work Commissar. Great theme and detail.
Really? I thought that all the detail was clogged by paint and barely visible, or that there were no detail at all.

they look great, i really like the white grey camo on the tanks, black edges to your bases look good as well, it helps define them from the table top.

good stuff

I finally have free time again. Work has kept me so busy the last two months that I have had barely time to breathe... But now I have managed to get something painted, half of my second infantry company! 6 stands of DRM light infantry as usual, in the familiar snow theme. I'll try to get more painted as soon as possible.

After a month of waiting, we have an update. After last update I ended up spending most of my free time helping my friend in programming. But there you go, the second half the second infantry company! This time they have little detail on their bases in form of two tree stumps. A group shot of the whole company follows when I order and paint some commanders for them. The guardsmen on the background of the last picture show well how my infantry blends to their surroundings. From a greater distance or in a light snowfall or fog you would not see them before they would open fire.

Looks very nice ! And yes, camo works on the table as well as real life. We had camo overwhites for the Korean winters ... :D

And again, a month has passed since my last update. This time I present to you my commanders! They are DRM 2nd-in-commands with two light infantrymen with conversions. From left to right: A medic, an officer and a signaller. The medic's medpack is made of greenstuff, it is so huge because it contains lots of stuff required for medication in arctic environments. The commander himself is unconverted. The signaller has a field radio made of green stuff, with an antenna made of welding wire. I know it looks like a huge mast or a flag pole, but if it were any thinner it might snap. The radio shows quite badly in the second picture, but it is just a black box with antenna, so nothing lost here.

And now, pictures of all my companies. First, the 1st jaeger company (I call my infantry companies jaeger companies) with a fire-support platoon.

Then the 2nd jaeger company.

And then the 1st armoured company.

My regiment's march of honour is the Jaeger march (downloadable legally at the end of it's Wikipedia article). I haven't designed a flag for the regiment yet, but perhaps someday. Next thing I'll do is possibly a list of what I have and what I need and to think of some trading.

Appearently the forum software did not accept the sixth picture, so I'll have to make a new post for it.

A picture of the whole Dalo 26th regiment.

Note that I used the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement's third symbol, the red crystal for my medics. That is because I like it's looks. I'd also like to mention that the miniatures in the DRM regimetal HQ blister are of a very high quality, even more surprising than the light infantry when I first saw them. Excellent.

Lookign really good :)

Thank you. Yes, I painted them black on purpose of finding them more easily.

No, just normal Imperial Guard medics. I used the red crystal because I like the way it looks and because it isn't used nearly as much as red cross and red crescent are used. And if memory serves, Israeli medics have a red David's star inside the crystal. Perhaps a better symbol had been a red Imperial aquila. But painting one would be quite challenging.

Time for some snipers. I don't know if snipers are any good in Epic, but snipers have their place in about every army. So I added them for two reasons, the first is that they just belong there, the second is trying out the DRM snipers. Once again, DRM has made high quality miniatures. I considered making a ghillie suit for the snipers, but I don't think one is needed in winter. As current Epic Armageddon rules state, infantry units must have between 3 and 7 miniatures on a stand, I could'n use an ordinary team of sniper and spotter. 4 men (2 snipers, 2 spotters) would have made the stand look crowded. So I used a 3 man team of a sniper, a spotter and a flanker. Wikipedia article about sniper teams tells us the following.
Quote:

Some Militaries have a third man, known as the Flanker. His task is to have eyes on what the Sniper and Spotter cannot see. Maintaining Security from the teams 3 O'Clock to 9 O'Clock, and call out targets.

So that explains the third, ordinary looking man on the stands. And now the pictures, note the lens flare effects on snipers' scopes.

This is also probably my last update for a year, since I have some military work to do. If I get any holidays I could try to get something painted, but with such a slow painting speed I doubt that. I'll try to visit here as often as I can.
