So what's the stats on this bad Boy !? 1 per base like Lictors ?  Have the stats been added to the latest v. ?  Come on boys, there is a War on !  I need intell !  :O

It's not in the standard tyranid list, since that is more representative of the 2nd edition 40k nids than the current style.

Well, in 4ok it has similar stats to a hive tyrant, can spawn rippers and if any wounds it cause get through armour saves it causes instant death.

So probably something roughly like:

Type: AV   Speed: 15cm  Armour: 4+ Close combat: 3+ Firefight 5+
Weapons:
Rippers:   (small arms) EA(+1) ignore cover
       AND (assault weapons) EA(+1) ignore cover
Feeder Tentacles: (assault weapons) EA+1 Sniper.
Notes: Fearless, Invulnerable Save, Reinforced Armour, Synapse(+3)

Or something along those lines anyway I'd imagine.

Looks about right to me.

It's meant to be faster than a Hive Tyrant though, so I'd probably go with 20cm speed.

I would drop the Reinforced Armour, because Hive Tyrant units stats include the Tyrant Guards.

The FF attacks are a good way to represent the ground around the Malanthrope bristling with Ripper Swarms :)

I'm dubious on this one, as a Malanthrope is harder to kill than a Carnifex (Same toughness (6) and number of wounds (4), better armour save (2+ vs 3+ for the fex) and also has an invulnerable save which a carnifex lacks.).

Also, the Hive Tyrant's 4+RA doesn't represent the Tyrant Guard IMHO. It just represents the fact that a winged Tyrant tends to be easier to kill.

Ok. I followed zombocoms statement that the Malanthrope has similar stats as a Hive Tyrant and hadn't looked them up myselve.
If the Malanthrope has indeed identical stats regarding to Toughness, Wounds and armour as a Carnifex then it should use Reinforced Armour.

So there'd be 1 on a base ?   And what are the final stats.  We've taken the exercise this far ... What's the bottom line ?  And good job ! :D

Definitely 1 per base, they're roughly equivilent in usage to Hive Tyrants, except they're followed by swarms of little rippers.

I'll be playing him with these stats:

That puts it roughly on par with a Hive Tyrant... it's a bit faster (5cm), but it has no shooting attack, and is slightly sub-par compared to the Tyrant in CC, as its Sniper attack isn't allowed by the rules to spread beyond B2B contact. On the other hand, it's better in a FF situation than a Tyrant.

It is also cool! :D

Same cost and place in the army list as a Hive Tyrant  I think (So where it says I can take a Hive Tyrant or a Winged Hive Tyrant, maybe I'll take a Malanthrope instead)...
