I assumed you were going to 'biggerize' the FW one.

While we're appealing for measurements, can anybody give me some love on this request:

I was thinking of doing a loyalist one first, and then Chaoserrizing it afterwards. :(

Shoul it be bigger? I must admit, having printed a pic at the right size, it does look small - but then I'd like it to fit next to the FW one without looking out of place.

So, bigger or not? I'll start work tomorrow, so I've about 12 hours to decide.

Oh, and thanks again Rag, now I can amaze people at dinner parties with my encyclopedic knowledge of Warhound Titan toe widths! Reckon that should help with the ladies...
Regards,
Reaver

i personally would much rather have a mars pattern titan that was in scale with the titans i already have.
besides if it was bigger than the F.W. one it would REALLy make the S.G. reaver look small.

FWs Warhound is 4cm tall, top part is 3cm wide & 2.7cm deep. (without head)
Well its height depends from its leg positioning...

Okay, the project begins today - but will be S-L-O-W. I've got to fit this in around my usual work, which is currently sculpting brooches, 54mm jockeys, and 90mm historicals.

Step one was to get hold of the measurements - thanks Ragnarok!
Then I downloaded every pic I could find of the FW Mars Warhound. I picked two of them, and resized them to match the correct model size.

Then I got my tools together:
I recommend a GW paintstation - I only got this recently, but having a whole project safely stored in one place has made a huge difference. Get one!

I'll also be using some Evergreen styrene bits, in an attempt to get clean edges:

As for actual sculpting tools, I don't use many. An X-acto knife for cutting stuff up, a couple of rubber Colour Shapers from the local art shop (absolutely invaluable for smoothing GS/ProCreate), and a Wax No. 5.
For years the Wax 5 was held up as the ultimate sculpting tool, but of recent times many have said it's not all that great. Well don't listen to them! It's an awesome tool and when I got mine, I stopped using a dozen other tools, because the Wax 5 really does do the lot! If you want to sculpt, I'd definitely recommend one.

If you want to buy one in the UK, Tiranti's have them, listed as the SG Dental tool.
Here's a link: Wax 5
While you're there, if you've a thousand pounds spare, why not buy the super-cool mould-making and metal casting, all singing, all dancing spin caster! I'm saving desperately for one of these: Centri-cast

As for putties, in the project I'll probably use Milliput for bulky bits, and ProCreate for detail work. I may well use a bit of Sculpey as well, because there's a technique I want to try out which needs it.

Okay, off to do some work now, but I'll post more as soon as I can.

Regards,
Reaver

That spin-caster looks great... and all my sculpts are metal casting-suitable...

Actually, it's non-vulcanising, so you can use it to mould any materials - plastics, superglue, polymer clay, anything!
Really does look like a great machine, and not too big either. I want one NOW!

Reaver

as with the vacum chamber people are always talking about. tell me EXACTLY how it works (r.p.m. and everything in this case) and i bet i could design a home build kit on the cheap.

hey figured out how it works, it should even be possible to make one with an adjustable counter weight for use with moulds not specifically designed for the machine. most of the ones i looked at had big circular moulds that required you to cast at least two copies at a time. all in all i think it would be cheaper and easer to build one of these yourself than a pressure or vaccum system.
ok ill stop babbling about this on your warhound thread now...sorry :)
