Well, this is my first batrep of the year, with many more to come!

Enjoy!  The Walking Dead vs Armoured Men

Conclusions?

Iyanden is very slow and very vulnerable to Macro Weapons?  *laugh*

Was my first real spin with Iyanden... my opponent wasn't too happy to be facing so many MW FF attacks, but the slow pace of the army calmed him down.

Next time I'm going to try a more mechanized approach and put at least one Spirit Host in Wave Serpents... but it's such a huge points sink, it makes me nervous.

mhm, the Air assault is heavy dangerous. Do you get in 2 of them? looks damn nasty.

Got in a single air assault with the Vampire loaded with Wraithguard... but it's a real risk, you could lose a good chunk of your army to simple AA fire.

Additionally, the Vampire is *extremely* fragile once it's on the ground.

It's a gamble, and it snagged my BTS, but it tends to leave the surviving Wraithguard out in the breeze for the rest of the game.

I might try the "double Vampire" recycling trick next time instead of Wave Serpents, but I'm not sure.

Cheers

Not a matter of "no go", but super-risky!

That's over a third of your army (at 3000 points, of course!) it two rather fragile egg crates...

I might try one Spirit Warhost in a Vampire, with a "backup" empty Vampire to extract them for another "go".

Thanks!

And the Marine changes have definitely been a step in the right direction... they actually win from time to time!  *laugh*

While Vampires are vulnerable to AA fire, I have found Planet-falling to be a neat trick when mastered - and in conjunction with the three templates from an 8BP orbital Bombardment this can be fearsome!! But it does need finesse as you are putting a large part of your army down in one go (and obviously cannot be used with any titans).

Also, I note that you don't seem to play to the main Eldar strengths of Hit-&-run, either in shooting or assaults. In my experience, I nearly always do better when I hang back and counter-attack rather than when I advance too boldly.

And you've got to hope you're not facing Marines or other Eldar with a Spaceship for the potential of "bumping" you... additionally, Eldar Spacecraft have an initiative of 2+... that would be brutal to fail!

Planetfalling them could be interesting though, perhaps I'll spring that on my next Iyanden opponent... but that's a lot of points tied up in one place...

I wouldn't mind being bumped - When playing planetfalling marines, I have found that arriving in turn 2 is much more powerfull than arriving in turn 1. The main reason being that arriving in turn 1 you have effectively split your army in two parts, which can be defeated in detail, while arriving in turn 2, you can set up an "ambush" using both parts of your army to attack some point on the battlefield - determined by the carefull placement of objectives . . .
