The way I see it, the votes running in the forum now will help us see which lists currently stand in the most favour, without forcing people to make a binary choice right at this moment.

We can go on to playtest some of the more popular proposals, then come back and compare at a later date.

Thoughts?

So... we're voting on whether the proposals should be given additional consideration?

Essentially, yes.

Rather than vote on which list is the best, this is a vote to say either:

- This list is worthy of taking forwards to a second stage of voting for selection as the new AMTL army list.

or:

- This list is not worthy, go re-write it, or drop out of the process.

I think that they are all very good starting points, but none of them re perfect (yet).  So do I vote take on to next stage, or everyone rewrite them?  Or don't vote at all since it wont make any differance voting the same for each one.

Vote as your heart dictates, and remember that others have different hearts with different opinions.

To be frank i think we should go with a core set of weapons and have 2+ lists going in tandem and as each is ready to publish do so.

Possibly so, but the best way to see which 2-3 list should be persued from this point are these votes.

Nah the best way to see what should be pursued is from how much playtesting they generate.

Could be the best set of ideas in the world but if no playtesting happens so what?

Tis also the advantage of a core set of weapons (how many is that? 4 Scout and 8 other as the absolute minimum core load out?), once settled on in a number of lists should be easier to roll off balanced ones.

On that weapons note I reckon most would be able to have the same stats for twelve of the weapons (apart from Blarg who wants FF bolters, otherwise his stats pretty much match)

On a playtesting note I reckon with the weapons done I can get my list ready with pictures for publication at the end of January, hopefully as pretty as your krieg E&C - unless of course I get side tracked into Salamanders!

Oh and for any out there with a 'pet' Titan list don't get discouraged if everyone says they don't like it, if you can get it balanced before them, more kudos to you!

This vote helps clearly indicate some of the less popular army lists that are frankly never going to get approval. This will incite the writers of those lists to either drop out of contention, or re-write their list.

Essentially, people are voting here which army lists they have an interest in playtesting, just in a more formalised manner.

Personally, I trust the will of the people on this forum... I think they're a pretty smart bunch in general.

I know that's your pet idea, but not everyone wants that.

At least partially, a core set of weapons only works if you stick to the old AMTL 2.0 classifications in any case... and that army list failed dismally. I don't see why every proposal should be the same at this stage.

If people want to propose a few different stats, why not let them? It helps show what kind of an army champion they'd be.

Out of interest who doesn't use a less powerful/more powerful split? And pretty much those dozen or so weapons seem to be the same in all the lists I've looked at and don't forget, 7 of them are set in the rulebook.

Ragnarok, whose points-costed titan weapons list is one of the three proposals that (At least currently) have a majority of 'yes' votes.

Well technically it does have a less powerful more powerful split.  Since tactical, hunter (not warlord) and assault titans have to take a base load of gatling cannons, turbo lasers, plasma cannons or dual concussion cannons.

but that is more to do with making the titans secialised (so you can't have an assault warlord with two powerfists and two volcano cannons).

So are the R2&3 AMTL lists being scrapped and we're going in a different direction?

Just curious as I am just starting AMTL and am going to try and get in a game with them this weekend.

I believe that the general concenus is that AMTL 2.0 doesn't quite live up to what is expected, so several people have tried to make their own attempts at how they thing the list should work and look like.
