I must say, this is the first time I've ever heard anyone complaining about the Avatar!  Why have people been holding back for so long?

Is the suggestion charge 100 points for the one turn appearance of the Avatar or would He stick around after being summoned?

Should the Biel-Tan Avatar cost slightly more than non-COTYK Avatars?

At 100 points, I'm not sure I'd ever take Him... any thoughts other Eldar players?

IMHO, the current cruise missle Avatar should cost 50pts.

If he were allowed to stay around for subsequent turns, then I'd cost him at 100pts.

I don't like the idea of paying for an IF.  If my Guardian formation can get up in assault range, if my farseer survives, if I win the Strategy roll so I can actually use the piece.

Out of all the things on the Eldar list I have never heard a complaint about the Avatar.  Ever.  If it ain't broke don't fix it, especially in light of the numerous nerfs the list already took.

On the other hand maybe the list wouldn't need nerfing so much if the Avatar cost a few points like he should have done all along...

I hardly think the Avatar can be blamed for Spirit Stones, the Pulse issue, Warp Spiders with scout, nor the over-suvivability of Jetbikes... ? :D

Yes, he's a god of war... but not of cheese.

I'd say because in terms of priorities it has been a very very small one. Nothing that really needs tweaking in an urgent way to balance the list. Kinda like Howling Banshees, not great, but not so terrible that it's worth doing something about.

I guess one Aspect *has* to be the "worst" Aspect... so sad to see it being the Loverly Ladies though... *laugh*

Move 20cm, or infiltrators or something else?  Of course, that's a discussion for another thread...

Here's a thought guys - How about allowing the Eldar to pay 100 points for the Avatar to allow him to remain on the battlefield once he has turned up.

My guess is that few people would actually do this for two reasons :-
1. Eldar formations tend to be on the expensive side anyway,
2. Although good, he is vulnerable to shooting, so this would actually be a deterent to aggressive play (of the kind used when you know he is going to disappear having sustained some damage).

I second Moscovian. Too many IFs.

I usually face Marines, so avatar ends up being useless most of time because of lost SR roll. Yes it poses threat but only if it can reach b2b. Watching avatar die to thrown rocks from unit that is considered speed bump is also delighting.

Agreed, I have not seen the Avatar as a broken unit before and what I have read above has not change my opinion. The avatar is rarely allowed to get a meaningful engage off and the treat of him appear has not prevented formations from advancing into an area.

One of the things that irritated me about Eldar in E:A was the summon/boomerang Avatar...it's Epic...he should be there at the start and end of the battle!  The free bit is possibly a carryover from SM2, but in SM2 he moved 15cm max and had to cross an 80cm gap to get to the bad guys so he was never much of a factor except if you were really clever/lucky.

You can always use him to force someone to divert a charge potentially. He's still got a 5cm ZoC and doesn't have to start intermingled with the guardian formation if he doesn't want to! Maybe not his best use, but still possible.

It takes a long time for some of us to change our minds.  Actually, most people need to let things simmer quite a while before they switch opinions.
