Ok. Would you mind if i were to take on the work? i would really like to see this list being published. Which reminds me, is it possible for Warp Rift to publish an army list and after that sending it to GW for "official approval"?

Haha, I guess Yannic's Trade Galleon has been taken by Orks.

I'm affraid you right Horizon, however, my I just "commandered" a new trade galleon and I'm refitting it right now. Hopefully when my commincations are back online ( read: my internet works again) I will post some playtesting results. I've resently restarted playing BFG with an old buddy of mine, some I expect to do some playtesting pretty soon!

I'll keep you posted!

Yuber, I think that we should first publish it in Warp Rift, and after that perhaps send it to the high admiralty.

Thats all for now, I've got to hunt me some orks!

cheers
Yannic

That is possible. Dunno what Andy will do with it though. They do have an official Rogue Trader list.

I'll hear from you two. Maybe Yuber can start writing background fluff/story/word of introduction already?

I'll try to make up a article about my Rogue Trader fleet and its conversion. And I'll try to include some background/fluff texts for the overall rules. If Yuber can concentrate on writing the main rules and some fluff, I'll and my ideas to it, and start playtesting, because I think we need a lot more of that!

cheers
Yannic

Ok, here is my first draft about general fluff (not the specific fluff for every craft). Take a look and begin changing wathever you think should be changed:

The 40th millenium is a dark and grim age. A time in which most people meet outsiders with suspicion if not outright paranoia, traveling and trading have become a dangerous bussiness. Anyway, trade still is vital for the survival of the Empire of Man, whose merchants fleets are stretched to their limits just trying to provide the military of their needs. But even the mighty fleets of the Empire can't cope wich such an herculean task. That's the reason which paved the way for the rogue traders: independent merchants, explorers, and even sometimes conquerors, rogue traders are sponsored by the Empire but not under their direct control, a situation which benefices both sides, as rogue traders who succeed add new resources to the Imperium, while the ones who die in the darkness of space cost very little to the Imperium of Man. First of all, rogue traders can provide civilians with transport capacity, while they don't need a military scort, thus not diverting the imperial navy from its other tasks. Second, being (to a certain degree) independent from the administratum, they can commerce with aliens, independent human worlds and other heretics, bringing some of their exotic and much sought products to the Imperium, which is something the imperial fleet is banned from. Last, but not least, some rogue traders end up becoming corsairs and even conquerors. That way, the Imperium can wage war without declaring war. If the conquest goes as planned, the rogue trader will claim bounty or even conquer worlds for the Imperium, if it goes badly the Imperium can always say the rogue trader was a criminal acting on his own. So for the Imperium it's all benefices. The rogue trader, on the other hand, can even carve an empire for himself and his descendents, or can blow up in a last glorious blast, as most of them finish their careers. But human ambition tends to surpass common sense, so there are always people trying to become rogue traders.

Good start, althoug Rogue Trader should always be capitalized. But that's a small issue.

Nice start! I've gotten my basic BFG skills back at the moment, and after our next engagement I will playtest the Rogue Trader list and hopefully come up with some refinements. Expect them somewhere mid december. I'll allso try to take some pictures of my Rogue Trader Fleet during playtesting and I'll post the fleetlist I used. I'll be making 2 750 points fleet  list and will be playtesting them against Chaos and Imperial Navy.

More soon! And hopefully my internet will be fixed soon so I don't have to rely on the university for my internet.

keep up the good work chaps!

That's good to know. Lately i have been unable to play BFG, and when i get to play it, it's always against demiurg fleets!.

So, if you feel the general fluff is ok as it is (i don't think so.. where have my writing skills gone?), i will try to get on with specific craft fluffs.

Yannic, we want pictures!

Just work out the crafts fluff and then we can go on improving it all.

Trade Galleon

Trade Galleons are the largest vessels used by Rogue Traders. A Trade Galleon rivals an Imperial Cruiser in size and firepower. Since Rogue Traders constantly upgrade and change their personal Trade Galleon, these vessels may become quite eccentric. Therefore it is impossible to designate a standard class of Trade Galleons, and the term Trade Galleon is usually applied to any large vessel in service of a Rogue Trader. Anyway, ?large percentage of trade Galleons are based in the Gothic or Lunar class cruiser frame. A famous exaple of this is the Archis Nova: originally intended to be a Lunar class cruiser, it's building was abandoned when traitors seized power in the system it was being built. After helping imperial forces to retake the system, rogue trader Emil Bosquera was awarded the vessel, which was finished to his own tastes as a trade Galleon. On the other hand, we have many Trade Galleons of unique or obscure origins, such as the Blessed Voyager, a cruiser from the Dark Age of Technology luckily discovered by rogue trader Julius Kaeron when he was sent off-course by a warp storm, or the Repulse, awarded to Captain Nicius Ravenclaw by the eldar seer Ilithien as part of a deal they made. Other famous ships of this type include Helion's Tallon, an infamous pirate vessel wittnessed several times cooperating with ork pirates, and Andromeda, a ship noted for dealing with forbbiden tech in the Gulf of Damocles .

(Please, add ideas of ship names here :D)

The word aynway in line 3 should be removed.

Names?

Archis Nova
Blessed Voyager
Helion's Talon
Andromeda
;)

Maybe Pirates of the Spanish Main has some inspiration:

El Cristal del Obispo
El Rayo
El Rosal
La Voz de Dios
El Acorazado
El Garante

El acorazado looks lame as hell for a name xD

Translation into English:
The Bishop's Crystal
Lightning
Rosebush
The Voice of God
The Battleship
Garant

Some of those can be used with a little coversion, but more appropiate names would be more aggressive IMO: Raptor (ahd related hunting birds), Andromeda (and related names of stars, as mentioned by BH), Rapier, Sabre, Archer, ....
