For some reason that made me smile. The phrase 'damning with faint praise' springs to mind! ?:D

Tonight, if all goes well. Shadowsword tank no. 1 will be completed. I've decided to ditch batch painting to try and get myself motivated.

That's a quote from an old Ren&Stimpy commerical:

Log!
Yes, everybody loves log!

What rolls down stairs
alone and in pairs
and over your neighbor's dog?
It fits on your back,
It's good for a snack,
Everyone knows it's log.
It's log, it's log,
It's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's log, it's log, it's better than bad, it's good

@Emperor's Shadow: good call on the hvy bolters. Although it's not the scatterlasers that have broken, it's the little ones on the back. I'll probably go for the HB versions if I decide to mount up a second company at some point to help differentiate between then two.

As for meeting in battle - you bet, these guys are getting ready for war!

Ahh, there's me thinking you were being all 'Old School' e.g. bad means good; I really should have got that!

"Let's ask Mr Horse what he though?"
"Yes sir, I like it!"

:D

Anyhoo, back on topic:  nice Guard stuff, Levinas!

The first of the Shadowswords is finally finished and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

I'll be hitting it with some dullcote tomorrow which should remove any remaining shine from the decals and then it'll get a bit of green stuff on the base to liven it up a bit.

Tomorrow... Shadowsword two (if my back has stopped aching!)

Looking at the big pic (rather than the small mini) I can see the bolter barrels need painting black and the VII on the side needs a bit of work... and the decal edges are just about visible...

The temptation to resize the pic is strong but I'll let you see it warts and all...

I like that. VII is sharp enough for a 6mm mini. I like that weathered look, excllent work. :D

Really good.  The weathering and detailing looks really good.

Well, all I've got for you today is an army pic. It's more to horrify myself at the amount left to paint than anything else!

So far there's:
Supreme Commander Co.
Infantry Co.
Leman Russ Co.
Stormtroopers + Valkyries
4 Thunderbolts, 2 Lightning (can you use these...), 1 Marauder Bomber.

In the post from FW: 2 x Warhound Titans (the models are too cool to ignore and supposedly they're also hot poop in the game which is a bit of a bonus).

Anything obvious missing from the list?

I love group pics.   Looks great! Try not to think about how much you have left to do, but rather how much you've gotten done. I've found that that usually helps.

If you paint up the whole army as good as the first few pictures then it will be well impressive on battlefield or even in display cabinet. Nice use of Khaki and excellent detailing on Shadowswords.

Cheers

James

Thanks for the encouragement - if I hadn't promised to get shadowsword one painted the other day I don't think it would have happened so this is certainly helping. Last night the other two Shadowswords were finished so when it stops raining all three get varnished and based and I'll stick some pics up.

Today though (as I'm away from home) I'm veering off track slightly to start building the ork infantry that these fine guardsmen will be facing!

It looks to me like you've gotten quite a bit done.  Those all look excellent.

A nice combined arms force, a bit heavy of air power but nothing wrong with that!  The fliers again are just superb.
