Yes please! A step-by-step would be really helpful.

Step 1: Goblin Green with some black.

Because the Dark Angels Green is not very good to cover black I start out with a layer of Goblin Green darkened with black.

Before I continue it is probably better if I give a definition of a layer. I use watered down paint that usually don't cover very well in a "normal" layer, (painting as if it was a wall in your in home). Besides that I also use the water in the brush to control the paint.

So what does he mean? When painting something like the legs of the War Walker I start by rinsing the brush in water. Then I sharpen it on a piece of towelpaper leaving the brush wet.

With only the tip of the brush loaded I then more dab than paint the tip on the middle of the area I want to paint. The thin paint leaves the brush and forms a little blob held together by the tension of the water.

You can then start adding to or move the borders of the blob. If the paint on the miniature gets to thin, (usually leaving stripes of the black primer), reload the tip of the brush and add to the area insufficiently covered.

Don't paint out to all the edges or close to the nudges. Just leave a small blob on each nudge and paint on a new area. When the paint dries you return to the area and with thin paint do the edges.

When painting the area close to the nudges leave a thin stripe of black.

If you when painting the rest of the miniature discovers an area with insufficient cover, just go back and paint it over, (you will see that it is much easier to apply the second coat).

There is another advantage in using thin paint. If the paint should get into a deeper area not assigned that colour you can save the situation: rinse the brush, dry it and use the brush to soak op the spilled paint. Some times it may be necessary to wash over the area first with a wet brush to water it.

So, when I'm talking of a layer I usually return to an area untill I'm satisfied.

That turned out a little longer than planned. It is not easy to describe the way I have chosen to paint. If anyone out there is going to try this, I would be very pleased if you left a comment about the description: this area can't be any clearer; this area lacked a lot.

Back to the step-by-step:

Step 2: A very thin Dark Angels Green with a little black.

Second step is a kind of wash. I don't use washes a lot, as they when I use them often leaves dark stripes on large areas. Rather this is a very thin paint. The paint is applies more casual in step 1 but the paint to water ratio is still controlled with water in the brush.

The coat leaves a nice shine to the Goblin Green and the blacklining left also gets a nice dark green colour.

It seems that one Walker on the picture has a lighter green than the other. I did paint the Walkers with two different mix of paint. Anyway, this is a good example of how dark the mix needs to be before it's perfect. Personally I prefer the Walker on the left. The smaller difference between the Goblin Green and the Dark Angels Green leaves a better finish.

And now, on to the rest.....

And I've already found something missing:
Remember to rinse your brush regularly when your painting, (as well as loading the brush with paint, you can load it with water).
And I have used a Kappel Brush size 0.

Step 3: Thin Dark Angels Green

Dark Angels Green is then painted much like the Goblin Green in step 1. When using Dark Angels Green thin it down.

Step 4: Dark Angels Green with a little white.

First higlight along the edges. I still like the darker green on the left one. Am considering to repaint the lighter ones. Thougt I could save them in step 3 but they still look more like a IG-green.

Step 5: Dark Angels Green with some more white

First to show one with the extra highlight opposed one without.

And here is the Walkers with the highlight.

Next step is the little guy in the drivers seat. I don't know which colour to paint all the cables. Do Eldars have blue and red cables on their vehicles?

Step 6-8: The driver

He has been painted with Shadow Grey, Space Wolves Grey and Skulle White with just a little SWG to "break" it to a not-quite-white.

Step 9-11: The Weapons

Weapons has been painted Codex Grey, Fortress Grey and Skulle White with just a little FG to "break" it to a not-quite-white.

This is grand. I'd bet Incoming could do with an article based on this sequence of photos. :) :) : )

Step 9: Bonus

With this picture I'm trying to show how I get a smooth surface.

Because I use thin Fortress Grey it's a two stage approach. First I give all the raised areas some paint leaving a blacklining. If you try and paint thin paint over a very detailed area most often it will drain into the deep areas.

Then I partly paint the deep and the raised areas. The former blacklining turns a darker grey than the raised areas with now to coats. At the end of the second stage there should not be any true black still visible. This should still be done with a small amunt of paint loaded to the brush.

The following steps of highlighting follow the same procedure. The difference lies in the size of the areas painted. Smaller areas leave more of the original colour in the shadows.

By the two stage approach you get one highlighting for free, (as the thin paint doesn't cover the original colour as well with only one coat).
