Maybe it will give more personality to that regiment? (i doubt so, it's so well painted that no one will notice a ram or two)

I didn't even know that the Spanish Legion has a goat as a mascot.

The idea to make a ram comes from the use of the army: mechanized with lots of tanks it's use lies in penetrating the enemy frontline. They could therefore be known as the rams.

There is no fascist intention. Trust me.

CooL !!!  Neat idea !  Many of the units in the US Army have an animal or bird in their heraldry, but very few have the real beast !  :D  Nice work !

I'm reminded of 1. FC K?ln (Cologne Football Club) which has a living ibex as a mascot. :cool:

At least one modern Welsh infantry regiment in the british army has a goat as their mascott.

Jep, but I tried to figure out why it wasn't so good an idea to have a ram for a mascot. Thought it might relate to the Spanish Foreign Legions war record during the Spanish Civil War and in the colonies after 1945?

Great Pic !  Yes, the SFL, had seen a lot of action during the SCW and in Northwest Africa after WII. They were modeled after the FFL, IIRC ... Got the Osprey book in storage ...  The US Military Academy at West Point's mascot was a goat too, IIRC ... :D

the roman 5. legions maskot was an egiton lion the 4. was a scorpion the 13.  was by the a maled glow from the cesars persinal armor given as a rememperens of the galic campagn and by the way the 7. was a ram but its simpel becaus it was the romen sige breacker legion.
the tradition with mascots and the use of the mascots in the heraldic is from roman time and by the way the 1. legin the pretorian guard was the emperial eagle and yes thay had a tame eagle

If only the royal regiment of Wales still existed! It is now the Royal Welsh and does still have the mascot (i have an office in that barracks so see it all the time!)
