In this Bat-Rep things went so badly for M that the firepower of the Destroyers was not a major factor, however, the fact that they are an inexpensive way of including TK units that can be "protected" in a large formation is a concern.

I agree it's a concern.

Perhaps a downgrade to MW status?

This thing is supposed to be 'cutting through Titan-class armour with ease' though.

BTW, in development, we used to include Command Salamanders in the Infantry and ARTY companies too, but in the end the ARTY lost out and the Infantry got a 7th Chimera. I like that you put it back in this list!

Another example of departmental infighting I'm guessing.  :glare:

Just commenting on my inability to remember what ePilgrim fielded.

EDIT: By the way, ePilgrim's Necron list was at 2690, so it wasn't over the 2700 mark.  I am an idiot AGAIN.

just keep in mind if you drop it to MW you cut points too.  :D

I'm not intending to neuter the list, just tone done the overpowered bits.

any thoughts about the StormHammer?

The Tank list should get some goodies. In my eyes this could be a small discount on the Tank company. If you drop the tank platoons, nothing is left but the company, and THEN try to get a list if you take two companies. More than half of your points are gone with two activations.

The discount is now 50 pts per LR company If you take some smaller upgrades you will be over 700 with ease (SC+), and then the discount is about 7,5 % of the companies value. Not that big thing.

I couldn't agree with you more Soren. I really like the variants and the focus on tanks. However, as I pointed out in this thread, I was able to effectively field a phantom 300 point bonus, plus multiple StormHammers in a 2,700 point playtest game.

The end result was that I CRUSHED M with trifiling losses (2 formations below half, none wiped out). I believe the StormHammers and the cost reductions contributed to the lopsided result.

The list should be as cool and different as possible representing an Armour heavy force, but cutting costs is the wrong direction. In future I will playtest with equivilent costs and see how they do, as is they are too beefy to give an opponent a fair chance.

I've been asking everyone else that for three iterations of the list now. :)

I'm thinking, lose the twin heavy bolters and exchange them for boltguns (FF3+), and maybe change those main guns to twin-demolishers (2x MW3+ 30cm).

In future I will playtest with equivilent costs and see how they do

How about waiting for the next list update, so we're all on the same page.

150 pts were because of wrong point cost (450 of 500 for SHT-company) and the bonus will be even smaller if you have to take Tank companies instead of platoons. (2 companies give max. 100pts bonus, no other unit in the list gives a discount. They are valued as written down in the Steel Legion list) And you are not able to field more than 2 tank companies in a 3000pts list, trust me, tried it. :D

This seems really not game breaking to me.

Your list came from the wrong side and uses SHT never been used before (and so never been tested). Without blaming you but I think you overestimate the point cost thingie.

my 0,002 cent

Soren

sorry, E:A has been off my radar as of late, I've been working alot and playing other games, as well as writing for several other companies.
I'm thinking, lose the twin heavy bolters and exchange them for boltguns (FF3+), and maybe change those main guns to twin-demolishers (2x MW3+ 30cm).

just use the collector's stats from the E:A book, keep the twin demolishers, drop the 4x lascannons and lower the 4x twin HB to 4x HB. those stats are great for this old beast!
How about waiting for the next list update, so we're all on the same page.
Ok, but the SHVY company is listed at 450 and you are all telling me it's 500...maybe I'll comb your MNV thread before I say more...

Hey,

enough already, the only list available including the download here on TAC-CMD costs things as they were at our session.

The MNV thread doesn't discuss the company costs either.

As it was played the list was correct and as such my comments stand on what I played.

the MNV list is a good idea, but the costs need to be based on the existing IG formations which were playtested to death before E:A came out.

I fully apologise, it was my fault that this known error wasn't corrected previously.

Rug, don't worry. As I said, I wouldn't change anything unless I playtested it and found it to be broken.   Still, I'd like somebody besides myself to try to break the list by going heavy air power.  That many air resources is would pose a problem for any player, however, and perhaps that would be justification alone for leaving the Slavebringer stats and price unchanged.
