Chaos conversions, battlefield wrecks and terrain possibilities! ?
I'm sure FW will eventually sort you out, they ARE good in the long run, but that whats you can do with the damaged ones. Battlefield debris can make a huge difference to the look of your tabletop!

I must also say that their casting quality seems to vary a great deal. Some are very crisp with all details showing while others have a lot of flash and the finer details, like those on lower hull sides are fused badly with air bubbles in strategic places. A "feature" of resin, perhaps? What do the casting gurus say?

I am no casting guru but I know what you mean regarding the varying standard of casting, I have had the same with a set of epic barracudas and some hammerheads. The surface looked like sand paper, however the sad thing was it was too small to do anything with. Luckily the colour scheme and camo I used covered it up. Thats the one thing I find annoying considering the price.
L4 the idea of damaged hulls scattered around the place is a good idea when you get dud models, I am sure that would really look cool!

That was Tas's idea, we have the same Avatar (Dark Angels), so we are easily confused!
However, I have done that a few times with some G/W bitz... it does look cool... ? ?
Yes, on occasion, I have received some F/W models that needed a little work, but that is not always the case however, it is sometimes a problem with resin castings, in general.
But a good paint job does wonders, as Darkone said.

Hi!
The casting quality dies vary, although I have been lucky enough to be on the "good" side of the spectrum. Its also very true that a good paint job can do wonders for an otherwise poor model.
Take Irregular miniatures for instance, I think their 6mm range are very ugly blobs, but they sure look great painted.
