With the warm welcome I've been given, I decided to share the progress with the next army: Eldar Biel-Tan.

Here are some pictures of the units so far:

I'm not sure about the combination of Aspect Warriors. The ones on the picture are just those I have painted up so far. Any advice from other more experienced Eldar players?

This unit still need some work. I have converted the farseer and painted some of the support weapons.

That's not a bad combo of Aspect Warriors... heavy close-combat punch with the Scorpions, MW firefight attacks from the Dragons, and the versitility of scouts with the Hawks.

You'll definitely want an Exarch or two in there, most likely with the Fire Dragons.

Fantastic painting, btw!

Very striking el T, excellent job.  How did you get the vibrant colors to come out so well?

Excellent work! Loving the dreadnought! :D

I'd drop the Hawks from the Aspects and take more scorpions, or avengers, and take a couple of Exarchs (and an Autrach somewhere in the army).

That Dreadnought takes the cake :) :) Wow - inspiring, elT. Stunning paint job, but that kneeling Dread is special.

How did you get the vibrant colors to come out so well?

Example Fire Dragons:
Primed with Chaos Black. The helmets have a basecoat of Vermin Brown. Highlighted with Sunburst Yellow mixed with a little Vermin Brown. End highlight of Sunburst Yellow.

The armour has a basecoat of Scorched Brown. 3-5 layers of Red Gore. Sounds like many layers but the first couples are just putting a little paint on the raised areas. The rest are then "filling out" raised areas areas leaving only the Scorched Brown in the deep areas. Then 3-5 layers of Blood Red. Finished of with a highligt of Vallejo Light Orange mixed with a little Blood Red.

I wouldn't recommend to use the red as described here on large areas, but it 's easy to work on smaller areas.

The white armour on the guardians I used a classical approach: Basecoat of Shadow Grey followed by Space Wolves Grey. Finished of with Skulle White mixed with a little Space Wolves Grey. On bigger figures like the Dreadnoughts I also edge-highlightet with just Skull White.
Again because of the lager areas on the Dreadnought it can take more than one layer of each color to get a nice finish.

I'll see if I can take some step-by-step pictures in the future.

If you cut up the plastic Dreadnought at the joints you have a multipart Dreadnought ready to be "posed".

I can't take all the credit for this one. It's inspired by Bo Tolstrups kneeling 40K Dreadnought.

Exarchs sounds like a good advice and are on the way.

I took the Hawks to get scouts and to spare the cost of another Waveserpent. Most important I took them because they look great :D .

More serious: When and how do you use the Hawks?

That's a lot of coats but the result is great. I'm sure you probably find it easy going once you got a system to get the coats on.

I almost always have a pair of Swooping Hawks in my various Aspect Warhosts; it allows you to use the scouts ZoC to harrass enemy formations and such.

A full 8-unit, teleporting Warhost of Swoops just has too great a chance of getting Blast markers on arrival for my taste; I like them as "support" in other Warhosts.  My favourite being six Warp Spiders and two Swoops out of a 'Gate.

But transported, Fire Dragons and Scorpions are a good mix for the core of the formation.

Great work elThyge.

Many thanks for sharing it. Anything else in the display cabinet for us to be inspired by?

*Edit - just saw the pics in the other thread.... Outstanding!

Well I'm a user of the 8 strong hawks with 2 Exarchs. Being able to arrive anywhere suddenly is very useful.  Of course it depends on opponent and situation etc.

Different strokes (of wings)  for different folks I guess  :D

I also tend to be a big fan of 'pure' hosts in general, though I do sometimes mix them up a bit - eg Dark Reapers with Avengers.
