Guys, remember that the Black Legion list specifically depicts a 13th Black Crusade Black Legion force striking from the Eye of Terror. It is not, and never was supposed to be, a generic CSM list, same as the IG list is Steel Legion fighting on Armageddon.

As a stand-in, the BL list does fine IMO.

God-specific Daemon Engines belong to the appropiate Cult lists, of which there are a number floating around. If you miss the Engines that much, talk to your opponents and any reasonable player won?t mind a Lord of Battles cranking along those khornate Land Raiders.

It?s just in the straight, "official" tournament environment that you aren?t allowed to do so, surely the vast majority of your games are friendlies?

We've taken to using Lords of Battle as Khornate Ravagers to get some great use out of our models.

Then why does the IG list feature Ogryns, Ratling Snipers, and several other formation types that the Steel Legion doesn't use?

The answer is because it is a general purpose IG list, with the veneer of the Steel Legion as the closest fitting army list.

The Black Legion list also represents a 'typical' Chaos Marine warband force, frankly.

It's true. I could add pretty much whatever I wanted. It's just that the list seems a bit bland to me, given GW's previous incarnation was so rich and varied.

As far as I'm concerned the BL & LatD lists will be combined for my games to get the flavour E&C so rightly points out is missing.

Its supposed to be chaos after all!

This constant retentive approach to tournament play with variation lists is killing this edition of epic.

To be honest, considering how long it has taken to get ANY usable army lists after all this time I could not care less about 'tournament' lists of devient themes and combine the damn lot into one main list for each army.

If that was done in the first place, this edition of Epic would have been done and dusted and there would have been more people happy with it. Rather sad sad state of affairs.

We still use modified SM1 Templates and some of the SM2 card system ... I too am not a real fan of the E40K or the E:A current "lists". But that being said, DWWFY -
