I've also e-mailed Andy recently - twice.  And have received replies to neither. :(

I suggest that you start a new thread with the final draft where people can sign as a petition. Then add a link to the thread in the email. It'd give the letter more weight IMO.

Other than that it sounds pretty good to me. I don't know if it is worth mentioning that the community is starting to split up with people playing diferent rules (I'm mainly thinking of the rules reviews conducted on the french forums compared to the rules changes proposed here). A more visible ERC that actually produces results may be needed to try and unify these seperate efforts.

I will happily put my name to this. I would suggest though that we go one stage further hold elections/choose new members and tell Andy who we want in the ERC. A simple this is what we want, please endorse and you still hold the final say over things.

I'm with you, too.

And, why this forums should not be fairly representative? i mean, how many members do we have? Maybe you should count the votes from the SG forums and the french forums, but i think that's all. People in my country may play, but they don't have a forum themselves (and i can assure you they don't bother about it)

For the record. So far the French have done just list updates. The actual rules haven't been changed. But currently I have problems in translating the forum needed to keep up with changes (both google and babelfish fail to do it properly, is there other options btw).

Firestorm40k might be our best bet having moved across the water

Perhaps a poor choice of words on my account :) What I meant to say was merely that seperate efforts are being made but a unifying organ would help to bring these efforts together. Everyone is growing impatient but it'd still be better to have a single set of rules most people can agree upon (well more or less of course :D :;): )

I agree that Firestorm would be a good candidate if he's got the time :)

Although it's highly unlikely I'll ever play against any of our French (or German or British or Finnish or Maltese, etc.) compatriots, it would be nice to know that we're all playing by the same set of rules. I would hate for a group of players to feel left out because English isn't their mother tongue.

Hey, thank you for thinking of me! :)  I have given this much thought since these messages were posted yesterday, and I can honestly say that, with much regret, I will have to decline - for the time being: I have three events to organise and prepare for over the next Eight weeks, not to mention at least two more in the first quarter of 2008, so my time is a bit pressed.

Although I am learning French (and improved muchly since I moved here, which is probably understandable), like Hena I still like to use an on-line translator as I'm not too confident writing French and I like to check I'm getting it somewhere near right!  While this is no biggie, it does make writing e-mails or forum posts in French a little more time consuming.

What I would suggest for the time being, however is that somebody informs FBruntz what is being discussed, and that we would all like the input of the French Epic Gaming community.  I know that he too is a busy man, but I am sure if he does not have time to effect all the translations, he will be able to recommend someone who can.

I'm sorry at this point I can't help more, but I hope what I've suggested is of some use to somebody...

Its a pity that you can't do it, but I appreciate your honesty, cheers FS.

That would be my hope too.

Although I didn't initiate the "French ERC movement" (because, as DS said, I'd rather know that everybody is playing with the same rules), I'm one of the French players from the epic_fr and Warmania forums.

As Hena pointed out, we're not discussing a new set of rules but rather updating army lists. We've mostly used the most widely accepted changes as a basis (price reduction and slight boost for the SM tanks, 1.8 eldar rules, etc.) and added stuff players deemed necessary (Demolisher cannon is now MW4+, Banshees now have a MW4+ CC attack (I hate this change, but it's been voted...), Vultures' missiles are now only AT3+/90cm, etc.).

I'm quite sure that, had we had results from the ERC and updated rules/lists from SG, this would never have happened, and this is why I'm fully supporting this move towards a new and (hopefully) more efficient ERC.

I'm, of course, with you. And I 100% agree with Hojyn.

Mais c'est le quart d'heure des frenchies !

Another frenchie backing this excellent move.

The only goal of the french-ERC is to fill the void SG has created in the first place, not to split the community up. All of its members will agree I believe.

Count me in.
