Hi!
While I hate to mention e-bay, I have seen it a couple of times there. Have you checked?

back OT: A quote from the EA boards (by he who shall not be named)
"Jervis mentioned it in a discussion at Games Day 2003 in Toronto. My understanding of the discussion was that he was planning on releasing the air combat game next. "

Air combat. . . I just don't get it.
Well, I had Space Hulk and I hated it. I can't believe how popular it is. My friends and I played it many times and very rarely did the Marines win. We just didn't find it balanced. I never got the expansions so I don't know what it did to the game, but I can see how re-releasing that would be exciting. I would definately be in favor of completely revising it so it could be more generic, and not just Marines vs Tyranids. maybe forcused more on boarding actions and then you could use it alongside BFG and 40k.
Well, I have never played crossover scenerios but I still find them interesting to read. I think a broader version of Space Hulk would definately be more exciting than an air combat game.
Also, I never played mighty empires but I love PC strategy games. Is it like that?
Trolls in the Pantry, I never played that either but I love the name. Sounds kind of childish though.
All this is kind of moot for me anyway, my friends and I have put off games indefinately do to real world stuff. One of them just had another kid, another has moved too far away, and the other is moving to another state! I don't have any other friends who like these games, even my Irish friends don't, and they are from the UK! Doh!
Guess my minis are gonna sit for awhile.

"Trolls in the Pantry" was very much a "childish" game. Not meant to be taken seriously, very "beer & pretzels"... but somewhat entertaining. However we didn't play it very much. ?
But years later ('88) we did play Space Hulk. Both solitaire and 1-on-1. My buddy and I played it on the floor of my apartment off-post at Ft. Benning, Ga. During our limited off duty time. It struck me as a bit humorous, a Ranger and a Paratrooper, playing with toy soldiers and aliens on the floor... rolling dice and planning tactical operations. ?
"Art imitates Life" ?

In one of the expansions (Genestealer?) there was a Chaos vs Imperial boarding Ops campaign with about 6 different scenarios.
One day while playing BFG there was a critical boarding action, so we stopped BFG, played 2 hours of Space Hulk to decide the boarding, then went back to BFG using Hulk as the result.
Of course I lost...but had more fun losing that way than by a simple roll of the die!

Guess my minis are gonna sit for awhile. | It doesnt HAVE to be that way Gandalf...think of it as an enforced period of rest and refit for your army. Now you have the time to strip and paint minis you didnt like, add detail where you didnt have time before, expand and upgrade formations you never had before.
Then there is collecting a whole new army which is a project in itself while the minis are scarce!
Then there is rules tinkering- the list of desired "optional" EA rules is long. Then there is the lack of Campaign rules, scenario design.
You are only out of it for as long as you feel you want to be...the opportunities for finding stuff to do are endless. Me? I dont get to play often but I always have epic stuff I need to get to!
Of course I am preaching to the choir here

Yes, collecting, painting, and organizing forces...
All are done much more than gaming.

Quote (primarch @ 30 2003 Aug.,00:50) | Hi!
I think they are going to release a game called:
Oi' thats me money.
Its an interesting game where all you need to do is go to the nearest GW store or online (they do care about their customers after all) and give them your money. Who ever gives the most money wins a free catalogue!!!
Or maybe even a cool red GW T-shirt!!!!
The coolest game ever!
Sorry, I just could resist!

And the one after that will be "Sue it!". In that game Inquisitors Loot, Pillage & Byrne from GW legal staff hunt evil IP "abusers" and discount giving stores in the WWW. The one to produce most lawsuits gets a raise...

Quote (Tas @ 31 2003 Aug.,08:27) | BTW-While we are talking of old GW products I am after a copy of the boardgame "Horus Heresy" if anyone has a spare one. ?Want to have a look to try and convert it into a basic epic campaign map campaign. | As it happens I have a copy of Horus Heresy I most likely will never play. I have limited time available and like the Battle for Armageddon more anyway. The box is dented in one corner and there are wear marks from several moves (pack, unpack, shove to shelf again; you know the drill) but the components are all there and IMO in good condition.
Now, what would this be worth to you...?

I knew I forgot something.
As for what game I'd like to see re-released: Man O' War definitely.
It is the only GW game of which I have never heard any negative comments.
We wants it, my preciousssss...

Mighty Empires was also superb - this has just been rereleased as a free download for Warmaster, courtesy of Rick Priestly who wrote the original game.

Well Mighty Empires HAS been redone, so download away people! It is in the Warmaster section of the Fanatic page.
And it is identical to the original save for the espionage (and possibly the magic) having been removed.
Anyone notice any other changes?

Mojarn,
As it happens I have a copy of Horus Heresy I most likely will never play. |
Please PM me. My regular E-mail is down. I have a copy, but it is missing pieces (Never, NEVER lend out your OOP games!).
I'd love to have a good copy again.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

I would rather that GW concentrated on providing decent support for the games that they have released rather than realeasing new ones.
