I've asked FW's guys about Necrons; They're too spindly to consider in resin.

What about that bendy resin, like they used on the 40K Krieg grenadier air hoses and such?

I think they'd experiment with Marines first in any case (They have a mostly complete range of unreleased Epic Marines, incl. Sgt, Tactical & Heavy weapons troopers).

Man, you are such a tease.

But I mean that in a good way.

Well, it looks like Andy might be right. :(  :)  I count a definite 80 orders, which is $800 gross.  While this is considered a small portion of the Epic population, I still don't see too many people just buying the Necron and having nothing else.  While it has been onlya week, I don't see the poll results doubling .

I'll still propose some of the ideas y'all put out there and I'll contact FW as well.  Thanks, everyone!

Well, I emailed Andy the results and made three inquiries based on the feedback left here:
Me
1. 1. Purchasing the Chaos Android section of the mould. ?Not sure how this would be done, but a couple people suggested buying the mould from Specialist Games and producing it themselves for a limited run. ?Would you be open to this? ?If so, how much would it cost?
Andy's Response
I think your confusing a plastic tool for a metal figure silicon mould. Plastic injection tools are large pieces of metal worth thousands of pounds. But its not just the cost, Games Workshop would never sell our moulds or tools just as Coke would never sell their secret recipe.

So TRC, your suggestion has been taken and rejected.

Me
2. Doing the figures in metal. ?I don't know if the mould could handle it without being tweaked, but metal should cost a lot less than plastic.
Andy's Response
I think your confusing the manufacturing process metal and plastic models are made in two totally separate ways. Again, the production costs would out weight demand. Not to mention all the costs incurred on the route to market plus the margin needed to make any kind of profit.

In other words, no. ?E&C, I asked, and the answer is not only 'no' but 'we won't even try'.

Me
3. Letting Forgeworld take a crack at it. I don't know they business relationship between Sg and FW but if they could make them with resin it would be potentially an interesting sale for them.
Andy's Response
The most likely way of getting any Epic Necrons. If they were to do this they would start from scratch rather than using the Chaos Android designs. At the moment though they are concentrating their resources on 40K scale tanks. You could enquire, but I would not get my hopes up for a Necron Epic range.

So... for all those folks like me who were waiting for any glimmer of hope from SG or Forgeworld, here is a big thank you to Andy for clearing up those delusions. :p  Obviously it isn't his fault but I have to say I was really hoping for more from the company as a whole.

Onto Plan B (or C, or D...)

Yep, having read through Andy's response they better get the 'nid sprue out before alternative resources become available!

But I don't expect them any time soon, if ever.

Yes, thank you to Andy for actually answering the question.  How about one more... 'what is the status on re-releasing the Epic tyranid sprue?'. I dread to know the answer...  but perhaps also mention that epic players feel confident about producing the rest of the epic nid range from 40k bits, but REALLY NEED the infantry sprue to make it all possible.

But yes:
Tom - skeletons with las-rifles please :)  I expect them to come with tiny green plastic rods that glue into the barrel somehow... :;):

That is hilarious! :D

At least I can sleep knowing I did everything I could to do the right thing (i.e. get SG to support its own people).  Now I don't feel bad about 'other activities' that I may or may not be supporting.  :blues:

Last note from Andy (the perverbial nail in the coffin).

I told him that while I didn't like the answers I appreciated the response...

From Andy
Not a problem, sorry it's not the answers you were hoping for. I would never tottaly rule out Epic necrons or even a resurgence of Epic in general, it's just that there is nothing on the plans and we... obviously plan quite far out.

Cheers
Andy

So, that does it.  If you haven't been convinced that NetEA is needed, this should do it for you.  Honestly folks, Andy, SG, and GW in general won't care.  They probably won't even notice.  I'd love for them to make a comeback and I would buy everything they'd sell, but it ain't gonna happen in the next 3+ years (estimating their plan-to-execution length).

yeah, Will made the figures years ago & I was lucky to get my hands on a few sprues    :blues:
I posted pics here eons ago. It might be worht a forum search, but I couldn't find the pics on my hard drive & I'm afraid I've used all the bits ong ago

They're basically additions to the multipart marine, which he was hoping to use to make posed masters for a Marine range.

Unfortunately, It never got cleared as a plasuible product, but I agree you're more likely to see them than Necrons in the first instance, since the masters were awesome!

If that's not the last nail in the coffin, then GW has the lid on the coffin, with all the nails lined up ready to be hammered in.  :(

It still amazes me how company can be so out of touch with its clients.

Wuh? So how did they do metal SM terminators, scouts, etc. from plastic originals?

Why... With magic of course. It should come as no surprise that GW is really a coven of Dark God worshippers with unnatural powers that allow them to bend the laws of Physics, Marketing, and Common Sense. :p :D

Sorry I've got nothing constructive to say, except that all this seem to proove the old proverb: "If you want something done right, you beter do it yourself..."
