Here is a picture of two exocrine I finished. Basically since these are my first epic miniatures I wanted to get a decent paint job without ruining the details. Don't think I did too badly! Though it's not what I would consider the "cleanest" paint job in the world.

I'm still having problems getting the skin to what I want, as I want it a touch brighter... I'll have to pick up some more paints later.

Please let me know what you think of them! :)

I really like the colour of the skin, much more subdued than tyranids tend to be.  The only thing that looks off is the claws- the flat white looks a bit bland.  Perhaps you could put a light brown wash over bleached bone to bring out more detail there? (assuming it isnt just saturation of the camera that is making them look so white).

Really nice models though!

As Joker has already mentioned I like the skin tone, it seems very insect like in my opinion.  But yes a nice thin wash would help to give more depht to the models as a whole.  Great work for your first epic models I think that it will be a very nice looking army when you finish.  :)

Nice painting, Lord_Aba, it is a very 'organic' looking colour scheme - and welcome to the EpiComms fold! :)

Great colour scheme!  Good to see muted colours in general, and on nids in particular. :D

Welcome !
Yes they're cool, it makes a "natural" insect look.

Thanks guys! I have my malefactors primed and ready, so I will paint some of those up tonight hopefully (them, or my normal 40k genestealers).

I will try to work on the white bone color. It really is an off-white, and brings the whole figure together so I don't want to mute it too much. It really brings out the model having the dark brown and green touched with the brighter white.

The only other color I will bring into the models is red for the models that have a carapace. It might be included in the malefactors, I really have to see...

Interesting fact: This is the exact opposite of how my normal 40K 'nids are painted: while the Epic guys will be dark brown with light brown drybrush/highlighting, the normal ones are light brown with dark shading!

Here is my first malefactor! I managed to work some of the red in for the carapace, which looks a lot different from my normal 40k 'nids due to the darker skin. The drybrushing is much lighter then what I will be doing for the exocrine, but sadly the camera didn't capture it super well. I think I'll have to throw in a filter to make the flash not so direct on the model.

These guys where pretty easy to paint. I have a total of 12 exocrine and malethropes, so I might have to assembly line the lot of them!
