So the various disscussions going through my head last night made me think - why have Tau skimmers got a CC value?

As skimmers they nearly always firefight, entering CC is done purely to stop an opponent use a superior FF. With CC- you can still do that but you definatively won't be doing anything back.

I think its good for three reasons.

One it is further emphasis for the non assault nature of the list.
Two it is 0.01% downpowering.
Three well its not real change at all really, instead it is about feel, nifty tweaks etc (realised I'm just repeating points one and two).

Exactly - tis not much change but I think a wonderful bit of flavour - and makes it more different to other skimmers.

I must admit that I will take some persuading on this. A cc of 0 opens up potential questions and future complications. What happens when it is engaged by another skimmer? What happens if, in the future, it is forced to close combat by some future special rule?

Um... you do realize that, even if engaged by another skimmer, you can't force close combat against a skimmer by current rules?

Yes skimmers can _always_ FF - unless you wish to fight in CC.

This proposal neighter offern nor is a solution to any problems encountered with the actual lists nor adds any additional fluff. Sorry, but I see this as waste of time and energy debating about things never can happen because of rules. It?s pointless discussing about 6+ or - when the numbers never come into play.

So the conclusion is it makes zero difference to the game - fair enough, i think so to. But why not then have CC-? It is purely a flavour thing. It is minor and everything else but all these things add. up someone who looks over the army list and sees that stat has the aversion to assaults reinforced immediately - CC6 is simply what nearly every tank has.

At the very least, a tank can fire point blank and run over people.  It deserves at least a 6+CC just by virtue of those features.
