As Hena says, Razorbacks are superior to any other Space Marine tank.

*IE: Razorbacks are balanced, while the others are often lame ducks.*

The good news....

Holyoke is about 2.5 hours... ?I have been to the store. ?:)

The bad news....

I was there about a month ago, and the store has been closed and replaced with a sunglasses shop! ?(I was disappointed - I had gone that far because I needed some paints!) ?:(

We should be able to work something out, though!

Tristan

I didn't know that. Shows you how often I go to Holyoke. I wish I had read this before I replied to your PM.

Hi everyone!

I appreciate all the advice I am receiving from you all!

Hello to E&C and Hena  -  I will have to pick up some razorbacks...  they seem to make alot of sense, especially in a Dev. formation, where the extra numbers will help...

Buzbot - I agree; I see units like that hanging out behind a battle line or along a flank, almost more effective as a potential threat than for the damage they wil actually do.  How this is going to play out in Epic will remain to be seen!

netepic - I will read that! Thanks for the link...  I will be using the printed SM list for now, until I know more about what is going on.  Once I have a baseline of experience, I will be able to contribute meaningfully to the discussions on changing/updating the lists...

So, having taken into account the advice that was shared with me, I have revised my planned list.  I have also looked at my miniatures collection, and realized that I could fill a few extra slots/needs by some simple conversions. (primarily by adding razorbacks - I glued some BFG guns to the top of some of my rhinos...) The changes are below:

Devastator Detachment +4 Razorbacks (LC)  - 350 pts.
Devastator Detachment +2 Razorbacks (HB)  - 300 pts.
Devastator Detachment +2 Dreadnoughts, +1 Hunter  - 425 pts.

Tactical Detach. +1 Razorback (HB), +1 Hunter, +1 Vindicator  - 475 pts.
Tactical Detachment +1 Hunter   - 375 pts.
Tactical Detachment + Supreme Commander  - 400 pts.

Assault Detachment + Chaplain  - 225 pts.

Predator Detachment + 2 Vindicators - 450 pts.

                                               Total: 3,000 pts.

My thoughts with this list are as follows:
- 8 activations will give it more flexibility than my previous list.
- Devastator unit with Dreads will be a garrison force.
- Predators will be slowed down by Vindicators, but should be harder hitting, and a little more survivable.
- Tactical Squad with Razorback and Vindicator is large mostly to make for a solid BTS formation.

Thoughts on this list?

Tristan
