Mojarn, how are engineers' wages in Finland?

Depends on an engineer, there are several "grades" of those around here. Considering you have doctorate level education (i.e. at the upper end of said scale)  I'd say way beyond mine. Upwards.  But I'm not sure how you could handle the cultural shock of livinng here... :;):

Ummm? No 42degrees temperatures? No humidity levels of 98%? No overcrowded tiny little islands?  :D

No, nothing like that. Only rainy weather throughout autumn and spring with nice "grey" days of continuous overcast in between. Temperatures fluctuating from -25 degrees C to +5 degrees C in winter. Sun rising at around 09:00 and setting at around 16:00 for most of said winter which is compensated by it setting close to midnight and rising at around 04:00 in summer. And there is, of course, forest. Lots of it. And then there are the people. Like me  for example...   :alien:

Engineers are paid well in my area. Any thoughts of moving to New England?

No. Just strange.  :;):

EDIT: And Dwarf Supreme, don't you dare steal Vanvlak or I shall make a new entry to Karak Kulju's book of Grudges...

Plus, to answer myself. The WD & CJ index is found HERE.

Well, I just took the average times as I doubt he'd be going THAT far north. There he would also have to deal with the Finnish Air Force (mosquitoes).   :)

Oh, and I almost forgot. There are many days per year which are considered by the majority to be an excuse to drop all pretension of decency and get _really_ drunk. Although contrary to what people here seem to think that seems to be pretty common thinng to do around the world; it's just the days that differ.

I personally am in the minority but I am a strange Finn in other ways too. I don't thrive in sub-zero temperatures. I couldn't care less about Ice Hockey, rally, Formula 1s or getting drunk.  I am by no means an absolutist; I just prefer to remember all the stupid things I've done. And I don't have to be drunk to do stupid things.  :p

Have I scared you off yet or do I have to dig up more interesting facts.  :p

Interesting :)
Getting drunk isn;t my thing, either - I never paint straight, and getting drunk wouldn't help.
F1 and hockey - nope; sub -zero temps - ummm, dunno, we don;t have them here. Wasn't too bad in Scotland at -4degrees C - better than out 40 + 95% humidity.

'That far North' .. hmmm... mosquitoes - that's not too different from here.
