Still, 3rd is not as bad as 4th and 5th. Especially 4th was all about spells and could be called a card game.  :glare:

I've got this version of Warhammmer Armies

Hm. That's the one I have as well. And I see no Temple Dogs in the Slann armylist.  ???

No temple dogs in there either. Strange. But what I'd really like to get my hands on are the old scenario packs (Blood Bath at Orc's Drift, Blood on the Streets, Terror of the Lichemaster and The Tragedy of McDeath).

Seesh. Finally found the temple dogs after taking a first look at the bestiary. And here I scanned my eyes sore for a unit called Temple Dogs.

Did you know that in the 3rd edition Bretonnia could put more  artillery to the table than Empire.

Still, I must admit I like the old armylists.

Well, they were based on the French then - not King Arthur, the reason we lost the 100 years war (or didn't win it, depending on your perspective) was partly due to the French being the first to organise there artillery into batteries and recognising it's importance. We used it, but didn't appreciate it's effectiveness or come up with decent roles for it.

Ah.  Sitting in a field; jumpers for goalposts and a copy of my mate's Warhammer 3rd edition armylists.  I remember those days in school!

Never actually played it though.  My bro and I only started with 4th ed.

When I said I thought they were in the army lists, I meant as upgrades for characters - 'monstrous mounts' or 'ridden monsters' or something.  Are they actually in the Nippon/Hobgoblin lists (or something else) under those categories? Or is my senile old brain just imagining it?  :D

Yep. The Nippon mercenary commander could ride a temple dog. It was a war beast.

Don't forget Norse War Mammoth, Chaos Dwarf Boar centaurs, half orcs and... Dwarf Wizards!!!

I remember the Dwarf Wizard from the Battle of Blood Keep. Blood Keep, has the THE most confusing and constantly changing history in the old world.

I remember a dwarf wizard being used in the Empire plus Dwarfs vs Wood Elves battle report way back when.  It was just after Empire had been redone in White Dwarf.

I heartily recommend doing so. And don't forget the corresponding "Warhammer Armies" book as that has all of the armylists.  Pity we don't live closer to each other as I could loan you my own copy. And we could have that Skaven vs. Chaos Dwarfs MOW battle. And...  :(

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know of a White Dwarf index? I had a link way back but lost it. I'd like to know what kind of units were published for the 3rd edition. I seem to recall a Chaos Dwarf swivel gun.

There was a Chaos Dwarf Tenderiser as well.

Why don't you PBEM? Warhammer is a fairly simple game to do, even by conventional email, but there are apps out their that simplify it even more.
