I also think people put way too much emphasis on being "in the vault".

As do I. I certainly want lists to be playable and fairly balanced, but I'm not too concerned about them being perfectly balanced. Heck, I'm not even all that concerned if a list relies on OOP minis. I like winning just as much as the next guy (or girl), but I'm more interested in having fun.

Sorry if that came out wrong, Neal.  It wasn't meant to be slamming you, just SG.

No offense taken. You'd have to try a lot harder than that to tick me off, Mosc.  :p

As neal said, I prefer a realistic list in the sense that it could easier be made official and also (!) needs less OOP miniatures because people who want to test it have less problems buildig an army.
I also think it is more relistic (background-wise) that Knights more often fight on their own, but this is of course highly debatable.

I think we should make a poll about splitting the lists.

I think the comments on whether we need the officialness of a vault list depends on whether you only play within local gaming group or whether you play mainly tournament games.

I am currently between gaming groups having moved from West London to West Yorkshire (UK). But the guys I have played with at the legion gaming club would be a bit suspicious of me wanting to play with a fan produced list- if I won a game with a fan-list I know it would only ever be attributed to the army list- probably the only way a fan-list would be readily accepted is if I got trashed using it, which is not the greatest way to come up with fair balanced playtested list, hence the reason that I have stuck to SM/IG/Orks in games of Epic so far.

If however I turned up with an army list from the SG website, the fact that it had been posted in the vault would give it much more acceptance, even if it was only a draft playtest list. So I do still yearn for an AMTL list to have at least semi-official status.

Nealhunt- if I was offered a choice between a semi-official SG backed AMTL list without knights or a totally unofficial fan based list with knights, then I would be happy enough with the former.

So my choice in order of preference would be:

1) Official SG AMTL list with knights
2) Official SG AMTL list without knights
3) Fan produced AMTL list with knights

If you think including OOP models would make it harder for an AMTL list to be acceoted in SG vault, then , with regret, I would have to wave goodbye to the knights.

Cheers

James

As well as most of the Titan variants, since most of the weapons are OOP.

I could live if one or two of the metall OOP titan weapons were held back for a future Adeptus Titanicus game. But as a minimum we should be able to have at least all of the plastic weapons that game with the beatleback titans. If we dont have those as a mnimum (and preferably at least some of the metal weapons even if OOP) then there is almost no point in having an AMTL list.

Cheers

the AMTL list is my main drive in epic... titans are what i love about the game.. but i doubt we will get a offical/vaulted list as has been said... too much is OOP or FW only...

if only we could get FW to do a weapon pack for the MK3 warlord....

Too many of the weapons and units are OOP for ther to be a viable AMTL list if the objective is to have something that is going to be posted in the SG Vault.  One could make the argument that something close could be done based upon currently released stuff, but I think you are going to have an army list that nobody will agree upon or one that will simply be a "Titan-heavy Imperial Guard Army List."

I don't want to sound like a doomsayer, but I think we as a collective group need to come to grips with what is going on and then approach the SG/GW folks.  It is starting to look like SG is going to eventually whither away to nothing.  If that is the case WE need to approach GW/SG and ask them to stop delaying it and either cut the cord or put money into our games.  After all, it is starting to look like the biggest impediment to getting anything done is SG.

Anyway, I suggest that we forget SG and go fan-list.  Once we have gotten an army list to the point of being usable we make a .pdf file and have the first page be a "Fan Approved" sheet that says the list is as balanced as can be, please accept for use in games.  If SG won't put their seal of approval on it maybe we can?

I have never liked the three lists being lumped together (Knight, skittari, Titans).

It is true that currently you can't build an AMTL army even without Knights with Epic miniatures stil in production. But it is easier to convert such an army. You can use all kinds of 40k weapons for OOP Titan weapons and the other units (except Ordinatus) can be taken from IG.

Building Knights that look like Knights (you know what I mean) is definitely more difficult. Also getting SG to make one single sprue with weapons is probably easier than several molds for Knights. Of course SG still has to get back on track first which will happen only in the far future as we all know.

Another thing might be that GW is not that interested in the Knight concept anyway. On the other hand, maybe FW will make some Knights (40k scale) in the future with other AM releases, who knows.

Typing all this made me realise that my suggestion of using tanks instead of Knights has a flaw, because the tanks (Thunderer, Destroyer) are variants from Forge World. So to be in line with the "maybe official in the far future" concept we need another solution. Any suggestions?
