Oh and as to progress people are welcome to start trying it out - the list is ready (ish, thinking of last minute alterations the helios should be 50 points and we really should have something ready for the prometheus to give it a points value), the extra units are ready, we know the potential problems (see designs notes, admitable still being finished) - I think a bit of testing whilst the main rules review is completed, then vault whilst marine rule review is completed then by then everything should be pretty enough to become official and be a Fanatic online article.

This incidentally after complaints is a list that uses less ink :)

You know it is futile to upgrade one of the Terminators Land Raiders to a Land Raider Helios because the Helios can't transport Terminators? :)

And i noticed: No Land Speeder Typhoons or Land Speeder Tornados?

Ah yes, stick them in  - with a note that they are rarer than gretchin warlords :) I was gooing by the list of units in the army list when checking. Likewise normal attack bikes.

The terminators could take an additional expensive Land Raider from the close support allocation, upgrade it then take their transport uprades. However it is somewhat improbable and for 150 points a bit pointless. Drop it?

We could clarify the Helios issue in an attached FAQ. Or simply drop it from the Terminators but ig uess the Helios would be more useful in a Terminator Detachment than in the Land Raider Detatchment regardless that it is a rather expencive choice.

Land Speeder upgrades are easy. Just the same as in the codex list :)

Armageddon War

The Salamanders have been involved in many magnificent conquests and wars, but in recent times even these great achievements have been eclipsed by their stalwart fighting during the Second Armageddon War While rhe Blood Angels set about destroying the Ork horde, and the Ultramarines bent their strength to the defence of the surviving hive cities, the Salamanders took upon themselves the essential but neglected task of protecting the supply convoys, fighting rearguard actions against the Ork advances and escorting refugee columns. So unstinting were they in these arduous but unsung duties, the Salamanders were to earn the gratitude and respect of thousands of Imperial Guardsmen and civilians. Preferring the close-quarter lighting within the maze of crudely carved tunnels within the Roks to the long-range duels in the desert, the Salamanders have made the Orks pay a high price for their audacity. At least three Roks have been destroyed by the Salamanders' attacks, killing untold thousands of greenskins.

Units - are you talking about the army list of the unit list? I don't think the 'Speeder varients should be in the army list - if you want bikes/speeders it should be FF (bikes) or MM (speeder and attack bikes). Adding in more options dilutes this.

If you have a burning desire to use them just field the chapter using a different codex list.

Note scale - thousands of humans should at least be millions if not billions (as in a hive city), and ORks tens if not hundreds of thousands.

Ah, this is where we improve things! (Really the authors are poor when it comes to numbers - conflicts should be on the scale of at least the 2nd world war, not the falklands!)

Damn! I can't accsess the campaign part of the armageddon3 site anymore :( There where very pretty Flash maps of armageddon with descriptions of the aera and battles fought there :(

What is your source for this "Amerits Crusade"?

The cpaters name is "Salamanders" not "Salamander"
So it's always "Salamanders" not "Salamander" even if it is singular :)

Else the Designers notes are perfect :)

Made it up. Or I might be remembering something from the 19 years of playing and reading about Salamanders (I still treasure my Rogue Trader Salamanders painting guide). I generally find it best to talk with assumed authority and rely on the mass of confusing background to cover any sin :)

Well Kroksniks Death Traks are only 7 year old fruff from the Armageddon campaign :)

So far i know the only mentions of the Salamandersi n the 3rd War for Armageddon was that they together with the Storm Giants and Marines Malevolent where gathering for the retaking of Hive Tempestora. Salamanders, Blood Angels and SteelLegion fought together with Commissar Yarrick to retake the Tempestora East Factory Complex but ultimately failed. At least the advance of the Orks was stopped.
The Salamanders took part also  in the defence of Hels Highway.
