I picked up 9 Armageddon Basilisks and 8 Razorbacks off of eBay last week.  I got them yesterday and was a little put off by the casting quality and mold lines.  Does anyone think these might be recasts?

The mold lines on the Razorbacks are not at a level horizontal, they kind of cross the tank diagonally.

The back of the Basilisks look horrible, huge amounts of flash and on some tanks missing track sections as well as a big hole in the back of the enclosed gun pit.

There also looks to be two mold lines on the side of the tank as well.

If anyone with legitimate models could compare the mold lines on their tanks with these to see if they are in the same place I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

I don't have any of the Basilisks, but the Razorbacks look just as "poorly cast" as ones I purchased, off the shelf, at the GW Bunker in Oakville.

They look fine with the "three feet away" rule, but there were definite quality control issues with EPIC casting this time around.  I had to do a lot of cleaning with the Marine models I got.

While the razorbacks look okay by my eye, those Basilisks do look somewhat inferior.

I can't see the second mold line myself, but if there is a second one there that's an obvious indication that they're recasts.

Those Basilisks look suspiciously bad. They remind me of my first casting attempts. Of Basilisks.

And I still haven't made a good Basilisk. They all end up in my junk pile.

Thanks guys, I will try to get some better pictures tonight of the two mold lines on the Basilisks and see what you guys think.

In the past, epic minis did have mold lines that ran diagonally across the side of a mini. So, that by itself wouldn't make me suspicious, but the quality of those Basilisks is terrible.

I picked up some Razorbacks off ebay last week as well and thought they were poor quality compared to the stuff I have direct from GW. Had just assumed that the marine minis were poor as I had got some fighta-bombers and plastics off the same seller and they are ok.

Checking now the seller is still selling all the marine bits he had for sale last week and the week before, a little strange ???

There are a number of UK based Ebay vendors that seem to move a huge number of Epic and other SG minis.  There's one vendor I looked at closely that has apparently sold around 250 Leman Rus and a comparable number of Falcons in the last year or so.

I emailed the seller yesterday.  Apparently he got these at a silent auction 3 years ago when his group was looking at playing EA.  They never got around to playing though and the Basilisks have sat in a box for 3 years never to be looked at.

Since he said he'd never use them he offered to refund what I paid for them and said to keep them.  I have mixed emotions about this.  On one hand on glad I didn't get burned and this guy was legit, on the other hand I'm saddened that they never got any EA play time.
